All of the mod's to my truck were done at once, exept the thermostat, exhaust and chip. The very next day I started to notice that the temp. on my truck would very from 200-210. And if I went about 50-60 mph for 20 seconds it would start to drop back down to 180, where it should be. It has been doing this for months. If I leave it idle or am just driving around town it starts to heat up. But if i turn the A/C on it wont heat up, even if I left it idle for hours! What seems to be the trouble and how can I fix it??

I will take a guess........................the engine driven fan aint working right.

You may need a new fan clutch to solve the problem.

While standing still your engine fan is what pulls air accross the radiator, this is not happening for you.

When you turn on your a/c an electric fan turns on, doing the job your engine fan is supposed to do.

So, I think you just need a new fan clutch.

I agree it could be a clutch fan or a temp sending unit. Good luck!

You guys dont think it has anything to do with the headers and the heat they are putting out??

Nope........air flow is the prob................once you start driving the temp goes down.......if the fan worked the temp would go down too!!

They are not too expensive of a part..................harder to install than most items as you have to take a belt off. But anyone should be able to do this, its really just a pain in the a**

Once again I agree with dracos....your headers are helping your motor "breath" better . They are allowing the exhaust to flow out of the motor easier. The heat that is coming off the headers ,if it is effecting the heat of the motor at all, it is effecting the external temp. ofthe motor. They would not make yor truck run that much hotter. I still think it is either a sensor or the fan.

Do you have access to a scanner to check the computer for any codes?? Have you had any lights flashing on your dash lately?

Good Luck!

How many miles are on your truck? It does sound like a fan problem, but you do have performance mods which will make the truck run hotter. My car does the same thing, and I have no clutch fan. You may need to upgrade to a V8 radiator. This will give you more cooling capacity.
