I'm in the market for a trailer hitch for my '01 Grand Caravan.

I have seen some nasty-looking hitches on these vans:

One popular type has a huge formed tube running across below the bumper.

Another version has a large rectangular gusset that hangs down all the way across the rear.

A third type seems to be designed fairly well (hidden under the bumper)...except for a solid piece of frame formed into a "U-shape" that hangs under the tailpipe.

****Yesterday, I saw an '01 to '04 Grand Caravan with a super nice hitch. The only part visible below the bumper was the 2" receiver assembly with two 1/2" loops of solid bent rod to affix the chains. This looked too good to be true. Is this an OEM Dodge hitch??

Best thing to do would be to visist your Mopar dealer and explain to him what you are looking for. Some of the Mopar ones are visible, and others hide quite nicely!

Thanks, hoping for feedback here from owners.

I visited several dealers already. The best they can do is quote price and part#. Parts mgrs & the service advisors are clueless.

Since the '05 sto & go hitch differs, no dealers stock the old hitch for OEM installs anymore.

I would visit a trailer hitch shop, or an RV shop, as they would have trailer htiches there, maybe some that you're looking for.

I wouldn't go to U-Haul tho', as I've heard u-haul butchers your wiring when installing trailer hitches.

Hoping to figure out what the OEM Dodge '01-'04 Grand Caravan hitch looks like.

I guess nobody here has one?

Get a Reese hidden hitch , have one on our 2004 , class II (3500 lbs.) and it is fairly inconspicuous . If you aren't using the hitch just remove the hitch and ball and you can put a nice plastic Reese cover on the opening , doesn't look bad . this is something you can do yourself as it is just held on by the 4 bolts that are undernneath . You can mail order this also, a pretty good site is http://www.reese-hitches.com/

I have a rigid class 2 hitch on my 2003 grand caravan and it is totally hidden by the bumper except for the middle reciever section,it even came with a plug.
