Gas milege still low after I put in new thermostat and now engine reaches the normal working temperature.

Must I reset the computer to get the normal fuel mixture rate from the computer? Any easier way other than disconnecting the battery to reset it?

Any comment will be appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Nope. Just pull off the negative terminal from the battery for about 30 min.

Is it true that you have to reset the computer to get normal fuel/air mixture?

The computer will only put fuel in within its programmed specification. I wouldnt think it is necessary, but it couldnt hurt. If you are getting crappy mileage also check your O2 Sensor, airfilter, and run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner though the system.

Hi, JamesJ2525:

Thanks for your help.
The code 17 has gone now without resetting the computer. I guess the computer recognizes and confirms the new data after several start and runs.
Per the computer tells me 12 and 55 that means no trouble, how do I check O2 sensor?
Airfilter is new and I was trying to check spark plugs but the wires won't come off, just didn't dare using too much force.
Idle speed close to 1000rpm, I'll try injector cleaner first.

Have a nice weekend!

Yeah try the injector cleaner. You can pull hard on those wires, just makes sure you pull on the head and not the wire. To check the O2 sensor you can unscrew it out of the exhaust pipe wherever it is located on your van. Oftentimes, the fuel injector cleaner will burn some deposits off of the O2 sensor and spark plugs.

Also check your PCV Valve. It should be somehwere in your valve cover. This can lead to crappy performance once they become plugged.
