HI, I have a 3.3 Caravan that has had a tranny shudder since I bought it with 5k. Use to happen at the shift point between 2nd and 3rd. Chrysler said it was harmless. Now with 90k the shudder happens at all shift points and in OD, when I accelarate, there is a "bump" and the tach drops around 200 RPM. Fluid is clean and not hot. Can someone give me a diagnosis and a treatment plan? Thanks!

What the tranmissions serviced before (ie. replace fluid, filter) ? And if so, was it replaced with chrysler specific tranmission fluid ?

Hi, no tranny never serviced before.

At 90k, I would get a transmission service done soon. It could explain why you get the shudder when shifting.

Yes, but I have had the shudder and now shudders since the car had 4500 miles on it.

Someone else might know more than me here, but I agree that your problem will be reduced by a fluid change, and you are overdue (the owners manual says every 50,000 miles, and the quick-oil-change shops try to push 25,000). But you should definitely ask your dealer to look for a technical service bulletin regarding the solenoid pack, or go to someplace that has a code-reader to check your transmission control module for fault codes. Anyplace that isn't doing one or both of these things is sloppy/lazy/jerking you around.

I'm not quite sure as to why your transmission would shudder at 4500 miles. I've always felt the chrysler built transmissions were half decent.
I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but on my mom's 95 caravan (3.0L), purchased brand new, the transmission was rebuilt twice, once at 600 kms and the second time at around 70 000 kms.
