I've got a 2000 Dodge Maxi van with the double doors in the sides and back with regular windows. I'd like to add the pop out windows instead but the dealership is telling me I'd have to completely change the doors to do this. Anyone know anything about this? Also, the glass from Mopar was $317 each just for the glass! I figured I could get some from a junk yard for pretty cheap. Any experience would be a HUGE help.

Thanks!

The best thing for you to do is take some pictures around the window area of your doors. Take your pictures to the scrap yard and compare them to doors of vans with pop-out windows.

Do your doors have recesssed spots top and bottom where you can attach hinges and a latch? I can't see them making 2 different doors for 2 window styles. My Safari has solid windows but also has flat spots for the hinges ect. you will probably have to drill out the holes for mounting though. Try finding a van conversion company in your area, or rv place and take some measurements.

Ok guys, I've done it.

4 flip out windows at junkyard:

$160 with hardware

80% block window tint locally:

$100

4 new weatherstrips from Dodge:

$400 and a bleeding anus....

I don't know what Dodge is up to with this but I've got to say that is plain stupid. This van is the same from 78-03 and it's $100 each for the weather stripping? Aside from this, the conversion is easy. My doors had the mounting holes in it already and the hardest part is getting the old fixed windows out (anyone want a good deal on a window or two with like new gaskets?). I won't be buying another Dodge if that is what parts are going to cost though. I just thought that Nissan parts were out of sight...

On a side note, the range was $80-100 for the strips depending on which door, yes boys and girls, there is a different part number for each door whether it's front side, back side, left rear, right rear. I kind of laughed when the guy told me that and said, "give me 4 of the cheapest ones" since they are all identical. And the big 3 wonder why they are losing market share in the trunk/van/suv market....
