I am interested in replacing a 3.3L motor and transmission in a 1996 Caravan with a 3.8L engine and transmission from a 1997 Grand Caravan ES model. Can anyone suggest what parts are required to make this swap? I understand that the engine blocks are the same. Would the electronics for the transmission and engine need to be exahanged as well?
Any help would be appreciated.

I would imagine the electronics would have to be swapped, I believe the timing and such for the 3.3 is different from the 3.8.
As for tranmissions, I thought both had the 41tes ? Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this one.

I would suspect you can just swap teh engine. The computer may have different
software but you may not be able to re-use the one from the donor vehicle as it may have come out of a van that had a factory theft alarm, and will not work with yours
if you don not have a factory alarm.

Subscribed. I have a ’94 van with the 3.3L. I have been thinking about putting in a 3.8L or a turbo.
