Right now its stock, but it sounds decent for a stock system (Infinity?).
I plan to replace my front door and rear 6x9's with a nice set of 3way Kenwood units. Also plan to replace the dash 3" speakers with Kenwood or MBQuart. No plans for a huge subwoofer or whizbang headunit. I've outgrown that phase I guess :)

I put in a JVC head unit and by-passed the crappy Infinity speaker amps. I've swapped the rear speakers with Pioneer 3-way 6X9's and will be doing the same to the fronts.

I leaved the front stock speakers in the doors and removed the rear ones.
I changed the stock radio-cassette-player for a Blaupunkt radio-cassette with 10-CD-changer. Thats enough for Hank Williams and friends!! :gr_patrio

I guess I was a bad boy this year, no camera from santa so pix of system. I pulled it from a Peugeot 505 turbo (mid 80's I think) in the local salvage yard.
Head unit is an Alpine 7525, ADS amp, ADS crossover boxes, little ADS tweeters, ADS 5" round & 4X6 speakers, all wiring, remote antenna & Alpine manual, all for a bargain $52.00
I have no idea how old the system is but combined with the old Pioneer 6X9 Triax II's (4) that were in the van when I got it, the system sounds good enough for now. 10 or 12" woofers would be nice later. The head unit, crossover boxes, & tweeters are mounted on/in overhead console I built w/old 3/4" wood shelves my landlady wanted me to throw away (stain too).

Yea imagine that! Peugeot was covered w/impound stickers and also gave up a very nice electric fan & Pilot driving lights (w/all relays, switches, etc.).

Umm, I guess I did mine on the cheap.
An AM/Fm Mopar stereo from an 86 Chysler New Yorker (not even a cassette player!!) for $25.00 at the Bone Yard. For speakers, I found a set of small box speakers I had on hand.
Much better than when I first got the van, a very tired AM radio with the mono speaker in the dash.
I would like to find a Mopar Cassette w/EQ so I can use my XM Satellite radio via the cassette adapter! :D

I'll be adding my new Pioneer speakers that I got for Christmas. I have the same ones in the rear and they sound gooooood! I bypassed the Chrysler Infinity stereo garbage and I also have a nice JVC CD head unit that's pretty powerful....got it on sale at Best Buy.

Went to the Junk Yard today for a Christmas present.
Found a Mopar "infinity" AM/Fm Stereo Cassette with EQ for $40.00.
Took about 5 minutes to install, the existing connectors from the "el basico" AM/Fm stereo that I had installed a couple of years ago.
I noticed that on the back of in new unit some kind of DIN type socket, must be for a factory amp? Will have to do some more research on this...

BTW, after doing some checking on this board, I know the Infinity system sounds "not so good". But for my van its an upgrade. Besides now I can get XM radio through the cassette adapter :rck:

I have a Pyramid AM/FM cassette deck with an aux input I run a discman into. I have 2 6" 120w Audiovox speakers in the front doors and 2 6x9" 120w Audiovox speakers in the rear. It actuall doesn't sound to bad if I play the discman with the bass boost on. I do plan on a amp or 2 and possibly a sub in the future.

When I bought my van new in dec of 92, I had no intention of keeping the factory radio. I soon relized it was a great sounding radio, am-fm-cass and 5 band eq.
I upgraded all 4 speakers, 6x9s 4 ways in the rear, I forgot which brand. 5 or 6 in seperates in the front, with 1.5 in tweeters. I moved the door speakers up to just below the window and lock switchs, the sound was very muffled in the orig spot so low in the door.
I added a blaupunk 120 watt amp, some noise filters and a a 10inch 100watt subwoofer(which Im not happy with).
For years I had one of those walkman type CD players which played thru the cass. I tried one of those fm transmitters, and CDs all of a sudden sounded like radio, so I went back the the cass adaptor.
For months Ive been lookin on ebay for a factory cd radio, 5 band eq, couldnt find one for the right price, until last week at work, I mentioned to our stereo guy what I was lookin for, he had one in a ram charger he was junking. It was only a 3 band eq, with cass and CD, and the price was wright, free. So as of last sunday, its in the van, sounds and plays wonderfull. Better then my original radio. This new one is alot newer then mine, mine had alot of hours on it. The CD plays nice, and I was able to removed that walkman thing that I always thought looked cheap.
Now Im still lookin for a factory cd radio for my wifes caravan.

I replaced the standard (stock) Chrysler stereo in my 1990 B250 with a Panasonic CQ-C1400N (CD/MP3)......WOW :D . I was impressed with the original speakers on such an old bus. Before I moved to Denmark I lived in Norway and had 2002 Audi A4 with Bose sound system. My Van is not quite up to the same standard as Bose but it gives the same feel!
I have a 350w subwoofer waiting to be installed but I am not sure if I need it now.
Cheers

I am currently using the awesome stock Infinity radio system with my XM Satellite Radio hooked up. For a 94 I am surprised at the sound quality in my van. In the picture I have hooked up my radio right on the dash and use my remote to control the stations and below it is the Infinity stock radio with tape deck. I must say again I am very surprised at the Sound Quality in this system. Although sometimes when I turn the radio on the speakers in the rear will make a loud whining noise and must turn the speaker off then back on for it to go away but other than that I am very satisfied with my setup!
Wow laylow, that will be awesome when it is finished. Post some pics!
As for my stereo, just the ebay-special factory CD player, and the stock speakers. My van originally had a tape player, but there was a tape jammed in it when I bought it, and it made noises of death every time the radio was switched on. No plans for a big system right now for the van, Ive gotta get some other things done first.

I have no pictures, but on my '78 I ended up with four 5-1/4" door speakers.. One in each front door and one in each upper rear corner all with insulation behind them. They are driven by 20 watts each and not to visable from the outside.
The low end is done with four 8" woofers... The fronts are mounted in shorted 5 gallon buckets under the seats the rears in a cabinet about 6"x12"x48" and fit under the rear seat. (They need more than the 20watts each I have.)
Just tossing out an idea that worked for me... I use my stereo so little now my '71 still has the 8 track that the previous owner installed with two 6x9 mounted just behind the front seats.

Yo,
In my Wagon here's the original set-up with 4 speakers and the Mopar AM/FM Stereo Radio. It gives a good sound for a 'working van'.
I don't need more :D
