Hey guys, anybody know if these wheels that came off an '02-04 intrepid fit the van? It seems like it'd fit and the spokes will clear the caliper.

Thanks! Do you guys suggest buying from ebay and from the states since I'm in Canada? Thanks! :gr_patrio

As far as I know, the minivan and the LH cars share some parts and dimensions underneath. I don't think caliper clearance would be a problem, but I'd wonder about backspacing for fender-well clearance. But don't take my word for it. Give a call to Hubcap Heaven here in Nashville, 1-800-556-6636. They're a used wheel exchange and reconditioning place. If they don't know, nobody will.

I would make sure that the bolt patterns are the same for the caravans.

I've bought a few items from US sellers on ebay without any problems. Just remember, because of the size and weight of the item, you will be paying quite abit for shipping. And don't forget the guys in Ottawa want their share of taxes in the form of customs too.

Rick, what's backspacing? I've heard of that term before, but I never understood it!!!

Anyways, didn't get them since the seller didn't want to ship to Canada. And yes, McClane, I get what you mean by the guys in Ottawa want their share of taxes in the form of customs too. :P

BTW, it's the same bolt pattern. 114.3X5

I've heard of backspacing too, is it where you put something inbetween the new rims and the rotor assembly to pad out the space because the new rims cause the tire to rub against the wheel well ?

fater, I've been dinged a few times buying stuff from the US. Sometimes they just let things thru, while other time you get dinged. It is a crap shoot.

McClane, I'll do some research on tirerack.com tonight, when i get home from school about backspacing. :)

Yeah, it really is crapshoot buying from the US cuz sometimes you get ripped by customs and sometimes you just get it delivered to your door! Anyways, seems like I'm just gonna buy a replacement rim...cuz the reason is that one of the rims is leaking, and my mom doesn't feel safe, and we're gonna get some Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred...

Backspacing refers to how deep of a "dish" the rim has; in other words, how far inboard the rim goes behind the plane of the lugs. You can take two rims that are both 7 inches wide, but if one has a really deep dish, the tire will stick out past your fender line, while one with a shallower dish will fit under the fenders (But might impact on the inner fenderwell). The potential exists for problems both ways, so I leave it up to a professional to tell me what will work and what won't. That Hubcap Heaven place impressed me when I bought a replacement rim off them recently. I could be wrong, but I got the idea they dealt with a lot of swapping like you're talking about, so they should have the expertise to tell you what will "fit." Their prices are cheaper than Ebay, too, so you may want to buy from them once you figure out what you want. I believe they would ship to Canada.

Thanks for clearing that up gas28. But we're still left hoping Canada customs doesn't get us at the border. ;-)

fater, what province you from ?

I've only had a few items dinged for duty, one being a digital camera. I guess customs didn't believe the customs sticker when it said value of the camera was $30 US.
