I removed the the factory running boards today and put on a set of Westin Platinum step bars. The bars look great but the lip under the rocker panel now shows. It has several holes and just looks unfinished. Do Durangos without the running boards have anything like a cover strip to hide this?
BTW the factory Deep Gray (not painted) running boards are for sale. They are in great condition. $150. Prefer not to ship because it would be too costly. Located near Baltimore, MD. Email me if interested.

Gary,
If we are talking about the same strip, the answer is yes......
See attached PDF from the 04 Service Manual.
Hope this helps..........

yep, johnny beat me to the punch!! i opted to not get the factory running boards when i ordered my Limited D. in my opinion the flat step kind of running board make ANY vehicle look like a lowered conversion van!! the tubular kind are very nice though...in place of the running board on mine there lies a thin piece of black plastic that runs the length of the lower body...good luck!

Gary-
I live down in Frederick and we just bought 2 silver Ds - one for me and one for my FIL. His ST doesn't have boards and I was wondering if all the hardware and stuff were going to come with it? Is it something that I could install in an afternoon? I'd be willing to come pick them up or meet you somewhere. Let me know. Thanks.

Yep, you got that right "biged", the factory boards kind of look like a conversion van.
Gary's Westin Platinum step bars are I think, the way to go.

Johnny C,
I have a question about that pdf file from the service manual. Is the entire manual on 1 cd?
I found a guy that has the service manual on CD but it is only one CD. I want to make sure I am getting everything.

Yes Gary,
It is only one CD, 6661 pages long. That's right 6661 pages!!!
I got mine on ebay months ago for like 10-13 bucks. They come and go all the time. I wish I still had his name for you but I don't.
There is a guy on there that is trying to scare everyone that all but his are fake!!!! Not! In my book it would be pretty hard to fake 6661 pages........ like everything else there are probably newer additions with updates, mine is a April Release. I am not a mechanic so If it where fake (which it isn't) It wouldn't make any difference. This guy is full of crap in my opinion and just wants to scare everyone into buying his.
If nothing more it is fun to look at and it helped you when I sent that Pdf file the rocker strips, what the hell!!
Hope you find one at a good price,
Good Luck and let me know.........

okay let me hit you up for a few PDF's hopefully!! My mom has an ''04 SLT Graphite Metallic w/ the Medium slate grey interior...the whole car is grey on grey w/ an ugly ass center bezel of faux wood!! that is all that comes on the SLT!! so i got an '04 center surround from a Limited Durango that is the brushed aluminum/silver...it's going to go so much better than the wood...how about the instructions for that piece?? you know, the AC control and stereo bezel??

I had mine out when I installed my radar detector. There are 2 screws under the traction control, heated seats section in the cubby hole. They face up. If I recall correctly just remove the 2 screws and pull from the bottom. The rest of the bezel is clipped in.
Did your Mom's have the Nav system by any chance? If I get the Nav system I am going to need the faux wood bezel for that. Personally I like the wood look with my khaki interior. To each his own I guess.
Funny thing though I am looking at replacing my Firebird with an '05 Mustang. They have a brushed aluminum option. I do like that with the black interior.
