Hey gang...tell me what you think of my future plans for my Ram Van.

It's the 318, so it could use some oomph, short of swapping in a 360.

Fastman 50mm TB
High-Flow Cat. with Dynomax turbo muffler using 3" single pipe (can't run duals with that 35gal. fuel tank back there)
Hypertech or Jet ECM chip
K&N filter
MAYBE installing a anti-slip rear, but keeping the 3.55 gears.
MSD Coil with MSD 8.5mm wires
Conrad Cap/Rotor with brass inserts
Trans-Go shift kit for the A518.

For now I'm not going to tear into the engine too much because it runs so well with 111,000 miles on the clock.

Sounds good to me. Why not get the computer recalibrated from Mopar Performance? They'll do it for the 94s.

just curious

any special reason you are keeping those gears ?

No, not really. But I don't intend on towing anything since the van isn't really set up for it anyway. I've always been happy with 3.55 gears in my A-vans...decent low end without too much engine rev at highway speeds.

Would the 3.92 gears be that much better?

I know RAMs but not 100% up to speed on RAM Vans

do they have 9 1/4" rear ends ?

if you are even considering 3.92, I would go ahead and make the jump to 4.10s

I have them in my RAM

Yep, I have the 9.25 rear. Oh no, I don't want to go with a 4.10. What I may do is make that decision after the upgrades, but I have to wait after the service contract I have on the van expires before I do any mods.

ok - good to know

the 9 1/4 CAN take up to 4.56s with no other modification, but thats pretty radical in a van LOL

I have the 318 and did all the mods you listed (with a couple of minor variations

sounds good

I'd be glad to hear how u make out with each of those mods dodgevanman.

The throttlebody interests me. I've read good and bad about them on dodgetruckworld

Ive added a flowmaster, K&n filter and splitfire plugs, and swaped over gears from 3.55 to 3.92, see anothe post here for more info on that. Always looking for more power and performance.

This winter Im going to replaced my ignition wires, and possibly coil, any body have any recommendations on those. I dont want to get anymore radio noise then I already have. But I think a hotter coil may help a little. You mentioned MSD, let me know how they work out for you.

A chip has always ben on my mind, but I dont want to have to run premium gas, too expensive.

I have 100k miles on mine, still runs and looks like new. Will try to post a pic some where here some day.

the Fastman TB on my RAM truck was one of the best performance mods

I am currently using JACOBS performance wires and really like them

also use ACCEL cap and rotor (brass inserts)
NGK plugs

DANVAN - looking forward to your pics

Sounds like a good plan. Dynomax is a good choice, they flow very well (better than flowmaster...) and the sound is more subdued than most aftermarket mufflers, but still noticable as far as not being stock.

Does Hypertech sell a programmer for the Dodge Vans?

I've read here that you can get the brass cap and rotor from NAPA for pretty cheap (under $20) but it is still very good.

I miss-worded somthing. I didnt mean to write that Ive heard good and "bad" about the throttle bodies, Ive read that they did help alot, and some people say they didnt do all that much.

Im considering a fastman TB in the spring for mine, who can tell me more about them?
