Hey, its been a few month now the service engine soon light comes on. I used to work at a Ford dealership, hope this didnt savatage my reputation here now, but I was told that just unhook the battery for 5min and plug it back in, and if the light goes away might have been a sensor that went off by accident, dont exactly remember the details of it all. Now I did it the first time, light didnt come back on. Maybe 2 month later, light comes back. I started wondering what it might be. I looked under the hood, see if any pipes might be loose, connector not pluged in right etc. Everything seems fine, so once again, i did the unhook battery thing. Last week the light came back after a month or so. So I decided to get the Service Engine code by turning on and off 3 times the key, and I got this code from observing the service light flash/ 1-2-1-7-3-2-5-5
I dont know if the code is right, but i got this out of it.
Anyone know what the problem might be? I dont have the manual of the van, its 1997 Grand Caravan SE, 3L engine, have 15700KM on it.
Thanks

Those numbers could be 12, 17, 32, and 55. Don't know what they mean though....sorry.

I know what 12 is. It just means you disconnected the battery recently (which you said you did). That code will go away after 50 restarts. And the 55 just marks the end of the test.

The 17 and the 32, though, indicate problems. You can find a list of the codes by doing a Google search for “Chrysler trouble codes” or go to www.allpar.com. Also be aware that a code 32 on a 97 minivan may not mean the same thing as a code 32 on, say, a 99 Neon or a 93 LeBaron. Make sure you're looking at the right code for your vehicle.

Ignore the 12 code they all get them , 17 means more than likely a thermostat problem , means coolant temp is not reaching operating temps within a specified time , 32 means some kind of EGR system failure and 55 equals end of codes .
