Pardon the post, as this deals w/ 98 w/Grand Voyager 3.3 liter 124Kmiles.
Just had new platinum plugs, GOOD valve cover gaskets, intake plenum gasket put on. The idle speed is 1200rpm, but cuts down to 800 when put in gear. No vacuum leaks.
Other than going to the dealer with my sorry, 'tried to do it myself' look, any ideas how to get the idle speed down?

Possibly a sticking idle speed motor? (intake cleaning needed) Perhaps a lower intake plenum gasket leaking (You did not say which one was replaced) . It could be that the pcm has not learned Idle yet (recent battery disconnect?) Just a few thoughts . .

I don't have a tune-up manual in front of me, but aren't those idle speeds just about what you want anyhow? I agree with disconnecting the battery for about 5 min., but I think it's where it needs to be anyhow. Any of our professionals on this board have accurate numbers?

Hi,
My 97 Voyager 2.4L has 1000rpm idle speed and I noticed the gas miledge become 18/21. I heard that the idle is non-adjustable and would like to check what caused it.
Any idea?
Thanks.

Idle speed on a 3.3 liter should be between 575-875 rpm . You may have to clean the throttle body if you haven't done so already . this spec per factory manual .
