I took posesion of my new baby on Saturday night. I know some might think it too early to start the real festivities, but I have odered a Borla system this morning. I have seen theads regarding the clearance of the system with a crossmember. The solution appears to be as simple as adding 4 washers. I was hoping someone could tell me exactly where the 4 washers need to be put. I want the party to start without and hickups. :rck:

When you get under the car you will see a cross member near the x pipe. It is held in place with four nuts. Remove those nuts and the cross member place the washers in between the cross member and the car. This will move the cross member down a bit to allow for clearance of the new exhaust. It is easy to see and find as this is the only piece that is underneath the exhaust system on a Magnum.
Hope this helps. Sorry I don't have any pics to show. But I have seen the system installed on one car (even got to help). Spend some extra time making sure the exhaust tips (which look incredible by the way) to line up perfectly. If you have access to a air operated socket wrench it really helps. There are a number of clamps that need to be tightened and it really saves the arms. I also recommend a 5/8 inch deep well socket to remove the factory clamps and to install the Borla clamps. A standard socket is not deep enough.
Great choice on exhaust systems by the way. Very quiet at highway speeds but an incredible sound when you stomp the gas pedal. Worth every penny.

What did you pay for this system. I put the Aero Turbine system on last weekend on my 1 week old RT. Great sound but a little loud for around town plus rattles the whole back end of the car. At first I bypassed the resinators and just put the mufflers in the back and my check engine light came on, and I ended up having to add resinators for more back pressure back in. All ok now, except for the anoying vibrating panels in the back of the car.

JSKwarek,
check out to the "hopupracing" website lowest price I've seen $735.00. Sorry, I gotta post the link this way, I'm to stupid to attach a hyperlink.
Good Luck!

I paid $803 with shipping. If anyone has installed this system can you let me know if you just installed the system or did you leave the resonators that are at the tips. My main focus is for a little more sound but no interior resonating. Also curious if when you put the pedal where it belongs ( to the floor ) if it sounds loud enough to put a smile on your face.

Since you have the new Magnum there is a question that I need to ask,
I read that there is no Transmisson dipstick on these. Is that correct and if so, could you explain why?
Thanks :rck:

System replaces both the mufflers and the resonators. Absolutely no resonance in the car. Very quiet at highway speeds and sounds like a hemi should sound under load. Well worth the investment. This same exhaust system will be offered by Mopar as a performance exhaust for the Magnum. The only difference will be the Mopar name stamped on it instead of Borla.

Do you expect it to be cheaper under the Mopar nameplate?

You can also get the Borla system from High Horse Performance (http://www.highhorseperformance.com/) for $659.
They also have the new Magnaflow cat-back system. If you use the promotional code: FORUM15628 during the month of November you can get it for $599.
I'm not associated with them in any way, haven't even bought from them before, but I was very impressed with a message (http://www.dodgemagnum.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3149&start=20) (see the last post on the page) that originated with them.

IDSmoker,
After seeing your last posting I call and canceled my original order for the Borla system at $803.00 and called High Horse Performance to place the order at the $659.00. Alas the deal was too good to be true, unfortunately a pricing error. They have changed it to $759.00, Oh well. But thank you for saving me $44.00.

Just a quick thank you guys for answering my "REAL Difficult" question.
Yes, I may have been in the wrong forum, but I really didn't think it was that hard for new magnum owners. Guess I was wrong.

There are no dipsticks in the LX cars because we are too stupid to know how to check our own transmission fluid.
Actually, based on information in the service manual, reading the transmission fluid level (TFL) on the dipstick is very dependent on transmission fluid temperature (TFT). Since the since the LX Platform Operators (LXPO's) do not have an adaquate method of measuring TFT, we must relegate this difficult task to qualified service morons (QSM's). The QSM's have a magical tool that plugs into the service port of the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). This magical tool tells the QSM what the TFT is actually reading at that moment. The QSM then checks the transmission fluid level versus temperature cross reference chart (TFLVTCRC) to find the correct TFL for that TFT.
Your right, it really wasn't that hard for someone to respond to you. Or maybe people would like to keep threads on topic. If you have a question that is not related to the topic that is being discussed, start a new thread and I am certain that someone will respond to you. If you need help starting a new thread, since it is so hard for LX owners to figure it out, just let us know and someone will be sure to come along and lead you by the hand to the answer.

MagnumFreak;
Thanks for all your sharing your knowlesge about the Mangum RT's. I've put in the 300C auto headlight switch earlier this week, which "the lack of" was something my wife complained about.
I have a Borla exhaust system which I am having installed next week and saw reference to "4 washers under the crossmember" in your post above. Is it just one washer per bolt between the crossmember and the vehicle? There is nothing in the installation instructions from Borla about it.
Thanks!

Borla doesn't mention it for whatever reason. One washer per bolt (4 bolts) should move it enough so it doesn't vibrate on the x-pipe. Without them you get this bionic bumblebee buzz at times. Might just be the thickness of the pipe borla uses is thicker than stock. Dunno.
Glad to help, BTW. These cars are just plain fun. :rck:
