does i'm the only one who would crave a 6 speeds manual transmission in a magnum rt???

You aren't the only one but don't hold your breath. The 5 speed auto stick is kind of fun though. But a 6 speed manual tranny would reall rock! :rck:

i was waiting the manual to buy me one of those toy but the dealership told me to forget about it, so i'm not sure, i dont think dc will be stupid enough to don't exploit this market, i know i'm not the only one, i know at least 3 other persons that would be really interested in such a car, they will probably turn to the pontiac gto, its a shame, only thing this car have if you ask me is an engine & a tranny, no look, no style, no soul...

My wife wouldn't like it and it might be a pain day-to-day.
I would like to see more control over the AutoStick and firmer shifts for sure.

I saw a recent report that said that manual transmissions now account for 3% of new vehicle sales.
If that's true, then there isn't much incentive for manufacturers to add a manual option to any existing model line.

There are two main reasons you probably won't see a manual in this car (at least not factory) anytime soon. The first is that it is much more difficult to get a car emissions approved with a stick. The automatic can be programmed to keep the engine in it's sweet spot for emissions, manuals can't.
The second reason, and similar to the first, is that I don't think they could offer the cylinder deactivation technology with a manual. I imagine the auto tranny and the CDT is integrated as to when it can and cannot engage and that would be much tougher to control with a stick. Most of us wouldn't care if it the CDT was disabled but it changes the fuel economy of the car and that means getting it re-certified and all. Not cheap.

i do agree about the emission certification but for the 3%, they are wrong.
the reason why manual are so rare its becose they don't offer it or if its offered, they don't tell anyone (like the grand cherokee)
just look at the import, count the number of audi, bmw or mercedes that are manual & its near 50% (worth the shot i think), those are probably considered as sport family car but so is supposed the magnum, we also could look at the maxima & altima, the old contour & mystic, the passat, or in the sport car, firebird (latest models), mustang... 350z, audi tt, porches boxter, crossfire, .....a lot of them are manual, i don't know the numbers for them but i guess its pretty hi....
for the cdt, if honda/acura can use the vvv/t with the manual, why not daimler chrysler, i don't think that japanese are so much more intelligent....so we should be able to do it....i guess, & maybe its easyer to control the engine with an automatic trans. but the fuel consumption have a way better potential with a manual...
i own a big rig dealership (freightliner, who is owned by dc also) & maybe 2 years ago i have read in an internal monthly publication that manual transmission were supposed to make a come back in the family cars... its 2 years ago & now i think its getting closer...

VVT/i is a different beast than CDT, one is a real-time modification of valve timing, like changing ignition timing or injector pulse width. CDT changes the dynamics and power output in the motor. That's why the only way it can be implemented is with the throttle-by-wire system, since the computer has to compensate for the change in airflow when four of the cylinders shut down.
Plus an automatic transmission cushions the drivetrain from the engine somewhat and allows the computer more control over engine speed. I think it would be much harder to get real gains out of the CDT since it's an all or nothing type of system, with a manual hooked up to it. Still, it would be nice.
