I just bought a 94 dodge intrepid. The last owner said that he THOUGHT the fuel pump needed to be changed because it would stall out after a short drive and not start again for awhile. I drove home with no problems and once in my garage a let it idle for a few minutes and within five minutes the car did die on me and now i can not restart it. Could this be the fuel pump or if any one else has had similiar problems please help me. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I was however able to restart it again after a half hour but it did stall on me again.

Certainly sounds like a fuel pump. After it stalls, take the fuel cap off and have someone put their ear up to the filler while you turn the key on (not start). See if that person can hear the pump power up.

I just put in a new fuel pump in tonight and the pump is working great however I cannot get the car to start now. I do not know what is wrong. I do not know if it has anything to do with it but my brother disconnected the battery while putting the new fuel pump in and when the car would not start he noticed that there is no spark coming from the plugs so i do not know what to do, any help would be greatly appreciated. I just know that with computerized cars things are not what they always seem to be.

Not sure....don't have a breakdown of the codes, but it's quite possible. I admit computer controlled cars are a pain in the ass when something breaks.

A bad crank sensor will certainly cause a "no spark" condition. Does this car have a distributor or does it have coil packs? Sometimes the pickup in the distributors go bad and in cars that do not have distributors, the ignition module that the coil packs sit on goes bad.

Are crank sensors expensive? If not, just put a new one on...won't hurt. I think on Intrepids the crank sensor is located on the transmission bellhousing and is held on with two screws.

The crank sensor cost me 40 bucks. It took me five minutes to change and the car started right up and i have had no problems since. I checked my codes again and everything was fine. Problem fixed. Thank you so much for your help. I would have never known otherwise.

Glad to hear you got it working, and at least you won't need to put a fuel pump in it anytime soon!
