How do I remove the front hub & bearing assembly? The ABS sensor ring blocks the Torx head bolts so that I cannot get a socket on them. Do I have to remove the entire knuckle or is there a special tool? :help:

You cannot replace only the bearing. If the bearing is bad, you have to replace the whole hub assembly.

You have to:

1) Jack up car, remove tire, caliper, brake rotor, and caliper torque plate. Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor mounting bolt and use a puch to drive out the locating pin. Label your wires and disconnect.
2) Seperate lower ball joint(s) from knuckle.
Coupe:
a) Remove nut from balljoint stud
b) Use hammer to break the stud loose from the knuckle
c) Use a prybar (or a tie-rod or ball joint seperator) to seperate control arm from steering knuckle.

Sedan:
a) Remove balljoint heat shield
b) Remove cotter pin and loosen castle nut a few turns
c) Use a hammer to strike the boss on the steering knuckle until it seperates from the lower balljoint. Make sure you have good aim. If you hit the lower control arm, balljoint grease seal or the CV joints, you'll cause some major damage.
d) Once the balljoint is free, remove the castle nut.

3) You might have to pull the brake disc splash shield. Go ahead.
4) Pivot the knuckle outward and push the driveaxle from the hub to provide access to the hub mounting bolts. Support the drive shaft with some wire.
5) Unbolt the hub.

You should now be holding a hub assembly in your hands. And, yes, it sounds easier than it really is. Good Luck.

Thank you. I was afraid I would have to undo the knuckle. They never make it easy.
