Trans problem?

My 99 durango doesnt seem to shift correctly from 2nd to 3rd gear. Before it actually goes into 3rd gear it revs high, as if it is not grabing 3rd gear, and then does finally click into 3rd. There is also some vibration in the car while this happens. Is this a trans problem? How do I go about correcting this problem?

Sounds like it could be the valve body or the throttle position sensor (TPS) - do a search for both of those on this site and see if the descriptions match what you're experiencing.
