Just picked up our RT Magnum--2 questions
1)notice USERS MANUAL says you can open trunk from key remote, don't see any trunk button on remote--dealer says he hasn't seen one. Anyone have a remote entry key with trunk release button?
2) gas mileage on first two tanks about 14/15mpg--driving partime city/freeway and not really dipping into full throttle much. Anyone else experiencing same--sticker states 17/25, was expecting at least 17.
Thanks for answers/suggestion.

i think the manual means that you can unlock the trunk with the key, not that it'll open on its own... but that would be nice... =)

I too have recieved lossy gas mileage, just checked last nite and was getting only 10.47 mpg. I don't think thats exceptable. So far my dealer hasn't been able to help. Does anyone know of a fix for the rough idle bad gas mileage? Thanks.

I got mine in May and have 21,000 miles on the odo. The computer tells me the average is 22.5mpg, with about 50%hwy and 50% round town driving. I'm happy with the mileage, but the tires are wore out and I had to order new ones. Ordered a set of BF Goodrich 245/55/ZR 18s...Got them for $82.00 each. I think the total for tires, shipping and insurance was $408 from discounttire.com

Since my initial post above, I have averaged improved gas mileage--on recent trip to AZ (approx 800 miles) at 75-85mph and averaged 22mpg, an accurate figure calculated by odometer miles and actual gallons put into tank--not depending on the cars calculation package. Back and forth to work probably around 17.5 mpg--not bad for a 4200lb car with 340hp!

hey thanks for the info on the tires, i just ordered the same ones yesterday. i had been looking since i had some issues with putting the factory tires on aftermarket rims, but the prices were much higher. these were a good price with shipping and tire protection coverage. for anyone else interested, they only had 78 left yesterday after my purchase and sale only goes till they run out! :D

I have about 7800 miles on my RT. I would consider my driving somewhere between city and highway and my mileage according to cars readout is always between 14 and 16 mpg when I refuel. Most times it is under 15 mpg. Unless the readout is not accurate, it is way below stated figures on window sticker. I did one long highway trip in the fall and it read 19.7 mpg when I refueled. I am not counting the tanks where I did a lot of fast or crazy take offs, just ones where I carted my 4 year old to daycare, etc. where I was very carefull.

I find my mileage to be in the 15-17 mpg with combo city hgwy. Your highway mileage on your trip looks incouraging. thanks for thr info. I think the key remote has been redesigned since the manual printing. mine is set to unlock drivers door on the single press and all doors including hatch on double pressing of the unlock button on remote key.

You can program key to unlock all doors and hatch with one push on key
button. And unlock all doors when key is removed from ignition

yes, thank you, I did choose to program my key to act that way. I thought it better to open driver door only on first press.

I picked up my RT in Nov and was initially getting in the 10-14mpg range. I've only put 1,400 miles on it since and I've noticed a slight improvement, To the tune of 14-19 mpg. (all 50% city 50% highway). I wish I could put some more miles on the car but its winter here in New England and I cant stand to take the car out of the Garage and get it dirty!!

how do you reprogram the key to unlock all the doors when you take it out of the ignition?

the same time.

Question 1, don't know. Question 2, my overall mileage (city and highway) has been consistantly between 19 and 20 mpg. Pure city driving falls between 17 and 18 mpg and highway cruising (80 to 90 mph) is between 21 and 25 mpg. If I run a steady 70 I can get between 23 and 28 mpg. The reason for the variance is the wind I think. The drag coefficient on the Magnum is not the best. Better than an SUV, not as good as say an Intrepid. Mileage seems to improved slightly as I put more miles on. Right now it's just shy of 13,000.

excellant mileage, I'm looking forward to it. Mine @ 3000 mi. is about 14 average with as much as 22 on highway at 60 mph for short (100 mi.) trips.
Your mileage sounds much better. I hope for the same after break in.

I have 8k on my RT and with cruise at 65mph is get a consistent 26mpg. Far more than I was expecting. My 3.5 Pacifica AWD only gets 22mpg under the same senario.
