:help: ok heres the deal me and my friend have identical neons and his is always running better than mine. he dont overheat mine does his has more power at the top end than mine and less wheel hop. i built both enginges in them and i have more mods than he does and his car still is running so much better. his is a 98 sohc 5 speed no accsesories mine is a 97 sohc 5 speed no accsesories. ive got konig wheels on 50 series tires, larger throttle body cai custom catback exhast and he has a wing go figure but last night we ran them both down the highway to see what they do and just blew past me in 4th gear at 120mph i was doing the same thing and he overpowered me someone help....both engines were turning about 6000 rpm at 120mph...now i can out power him in the bottom end...but he always gets me in the top what is up? :help: :VHOT: also my car got hot during our little excursion could be the reason why he had that much power?

A couple things to consider:
Cam timing...identical?
Both standard 3.55:1 trannys? (or could one be a 3.94?)
One motor built a little looser than the other?
What size wheels? Both the same? (different rotating masses/diameters)

both cam timings are identical, his engine is a little looser (about .002 here and there) i have a smaller tire hes got factory rims and skins ive got the konig wheels and calliente 60 series tires and we both have the same tranny cause we have the same take off in short runs i can smoke him but is long runs hes got me cause we're turning the same rpm's at full throttle in 4th gear

you could have air in you r radiator so that is why it is over heating this is a big problum cause it stops the water from geting into the engin. so i would get your radiator pump out and then get new coolent and fill it and see if it stops it from over heating. Then if that works then you shoud be at about the same as your friend casuse if it is over heating then you are going to loss power

when u say identical timing did u actaually go to the dyno and it just happened that the timing was the same or did one of u go to the dyno and then the other copied the timing because i work well. also what size rims do u have, and does he also have a stereo and lastly do eather of u have body kits.
