I bought an RT two weeks ago, and I have been noticing that under acceleration the tires break loose very easy from a dead stop - with or without ESP, and at about 1/3 to 1/2 pedal deployment.

Under a full dead stop when I mash the gas pedal to the floor, the car starts spinning the tires and starts sliding to the right before hooking up too. ( car has 1500+ miles on it)

My main observation is that with ESP off, the tires are still breaking loose when I am doing 25mph and give it full throttle?

Is this normal for other RT owners or is there some kind of tire compound problem causing this to occur?

Sounds a bit like your esp is not working fully when in the on position. Do you feel your car throttling back to try and keep things under control or can you just light them up and keep on going? Sure hope mine can do that when it arrives in a couple of weeks. :rck:

I would take your service manager on a ride and show them what is happening.

Those pathetic continentals they put on don't help either. I wondered why they put them on such a performance car until I realized that Continental makes the ESP system for the car. Coincidence??? Think not! It won't be long before companies start making better tires for these cars.

There is no indication of the engine throttling down, I can light the tires from a stand still or a rolling punch and keep going. Don't get me wrong, its fun to hear the tires bust loose - but after it happens alot, the end result is knowing you are going to buy tires more frequently. I use this car for work and have had 250 lbs in the cargo area behind the rear seat since day one.

I have not advised the dealer where I bought my car yet, I wanted to see if other RT owners are experiencing the ease in burning rubber, which inevitably means driving this car with a lightfoot. I have driven it several times in the rain with ESP on and it seems to prevent normal start up slipping, winter conditions will tell for sure.

BTW: I bought a CAI system, which should arrive any day to increase horsepower and torque, this could require more prudent acceleration.

With the ESP off my RT will smoke the tires with about 1/2 to 2/3 throttle--in other words you have to be careful NOT to spin the tires on take-off! But with the ESP on I can't break the tires loose AT ALL. I think your ESP must be malfunctioning.

You guys should consider yourself lucky.
I've had mine since May and it's lucky to make the tires chirp!!
