Got a 2000 Neon, 43K with automatic transmission. Forward gears work but no reverse. Checked fluid and looks good. Is there a way to check for error codes? I was scanning the net and found a list of error codes for Dodge, one was called a Transmission Reverse Gear Lockout Solenoid Circuit Problem Code. Does a Neon have such a solenoid? Would this cause my problem?

just go to your local junkyard and look for a auto transmission.. they go for cheap too. buyin a trans from junkyard usually cost less than fixin the got daam problem...

it is very possible that it could ber the soleniod, but yeah ya can get an auto tranny fairly cheap from a junkyard

i had a similar problem but mine had no reverse, would drive up to about 25-30 in neutral, and would shutter really bad when i started to go after every 3-5 stoplights or so. turned out to be something was clogged in the transmission. went to the pickapart and got a new tranny for 50 bucks(well 55 if you include admission)
