Hey Everybody.... it's been a while since I last posted (a month in the motorhome, well deserved vacation). I meant to get feedback before I left to see if anyone else has had the airbag indicator light go on to show a malfunction. The idiot light went on just before I had the oil changed. Andy (the best service tech in the business), couldn't find any reason for the malfunction and it seemed to remedy itself during the check. He thought it was a bad ground or loose connection. Since the light went off I thought "no problem." I got back from vacation, drove the car one day and the light went back on. I took the car back and this time they found that apparently the first run of Magnum's didn't have gold connections on the airbag portion of the dash wiring harness. Apparently, gold doesn't corrode or something, so the connection is always good; not the case with the coating on wiring side. There was a mistake on the harness so Dodge said to replace it. The problem is that nobody has any idea when there will be a new harness available for me. So far I've been told my car will be out of commission (airbag won't work, or might go off while driving, either way, bad news)anywhere from 1-3 months. I'm not happy! I didn't even get a Magnum as a loaner; I'm stuck with a Volvo wagon (all I need is a "baby on board" sign)! As I understand it, this problem is limited to the very earliest Magnums so if you got yours a while ago, ask the dealer to order one NOW! Sorry for the length of the message. Any thoughts would be helpful..... Thanks!!!
Dave

Even if the connectors were sitting out in the rain since you bought the car they should not have corroded this soon even if they are not gold. There have been a number of people on different forums who have had this problem and all they had to do is re-calibrate the sensor in the seat that determines whether to turn on the air bag or not. One person had the dealer replace the sensor because it was bad but most have had this problem corrected just by calibrating the sensor.
