Picked up my Midnight Blue RT yesterday and got the $1000 cashback (deducted from total price of car) from Chrysler Financial. Just financed $10,000 and will pay off in six months. It's a simple interest loan with no prepayment penalty, so anyone getting theirs soon may want to consider this route.
I told the dealer not to put on the front license bracket and no dealer decals or license holder in the rear. Immediately went home and removed the Magnum and RT from the rear and the hemi badges from the front fenders. I figure if anyone wants to see whether or not it has a hemi, they'll figure it out when they're looking at my taillights. Anyway, gassed it up, reset the trip meter/gas mileage readout and went on an 85 mile orientation drive with my wife reading the owner's manual and trying to figure out all the gadgets.
Observations---No pull to the right that some are experiencing, unless on a crowned road--then it drifts to the downside of the crown. Gas mileage on this little jaunt was 23 mpg driving between 60-70 with an occasional full throttle blast. Runs great, fit and finish appear great, no problems or quirks that I can see so far. Need to get a little more mileage on it though. Also, these transmissions have a lock up converter and the "bump" that some are feeling at speed is probably the the torque converter clutch locking and unlocking and not the MDS going from 4 to 8 cylinders and back. It's another so called mileage enhancer.
One final note. Everyone stares endlessly at it, and with no emblems some, I am sure, can't figure out what it is. Yes, I am having fun now!! :SPIN:
