I just bought a 04 Durango SLT w/ Hemi and I love everything about the vehicle except for one thing. When the vehicle is warm, during acceleration from a stop, I hear an unusually loud roaring noise comming from either the transmision or the engine. The sound seems to be present when the rpm is at between 1500 to 3500. It is also lousest when climbing hills. The vehicle only has 100 miles on it and when I took it to the dealer, I was told that it was normal and caused by a clutch fan.
I don't believe this because the noise is not there when the engine is warming up. Only after driving it for approximately 5 minutes does the noise come up.
Does anyone else have this problem? If so, what is the fix?
If you multiply the sound of a regular hemi motor during acceleration by about 5 times, that's what I'm having to put up with. Please help.
