I'm interested in purchasing and installing a 56mm throttle body and was wondering if anybody had done so on a caravan? I have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport and was wondering if any 56mm throttle body would work. Do I have to get a specific model of 56mm TBs? Will the new 56mm TB fit in the same location as the old one? If anybody has some advice please help. Thanks in advance.

One last thing. Where can I get thicker spark plug wires? and will a 58mm TB work?

I don't see any harm in installing thicker spark plug wires. Don't quote me though, as finding any performance info on these Caravans is like finding a needle in a haystack.

As for TB, I know that the first gen. 3.0 had a bigger tb than the newer ones, and a mod that some guys do is find a tb from an older Caravan and put it on theirs.

As for the 3.3/3.8L, I am really unsure. Allpar.com doesn't give out much information on performance mods for these engines.

I was thinking of getting a 56mm TB on my van also. What kinda HP and torque gain do you think it's gonna make?? Would getting higher-flow injectors for the TB help in getting more power??

I was looking at an 56mm TB at some site that does some mods for the NS generation vans. I'm still debating whether to get it or not.

BTW angldrkns9, how exactly did you make your CAI? I'm very interested in making one for my van. Some of the stuff in your van is amazing and I am planning to do some similar mods to mine.......so long as my wheelchair can still fits :)

I'm on AIM......my sn is Ratler9782

Later all!

from what i learned, if you get a 58 (apparently, they dont' make 56mm ones, you would have to get your 52mm stock one ported to 56mms) and you need to port you intake manifold to fit the new size, which i cannot do.. so there goes the idea of a easy TB switch..... but you should gain about 10hp and 15lb with a new TB.. a TB upgrade is one the few upgrades that you don't really sacrifice anything for more HP and TQ on the car.... and higher-flow injectors would only kindof help because your stock Caravan fuel pumps are pretty weak as so.. if you got an aftermarket high performance fuel pump that would be different....

i'm also interested in a larger TB, what is the site you were looking at? was it http://www.*****************/ they use to sell large size TB for the caravan, but recently they took it off their site..

for the cold air intake, i knew the guy who worked at a car performance shop.. he brought out a couple of intake pipes for different cars and we sought out the one that fit the best.. after that, we sawed the pipe to work for my caravan.. took maybe an hour.. if you're interested, i'll ask the guy who model K/N piping we ended up using.. then we stuck on a K/N 3' opening universal air filter.. great addition to my van.... ++ power and ++ acceleration feel...

give me a message on AIM.. my screen name is 'angldrkns9' as you could of guessed =P

i have spark plug wires from bosch that are a little bit better, but i'm really looking for something big.. this guy said he could make me a custom set with custom boots for $120, but that seems a little much for spark plug wires..

and for the pics, there are some in the gallery.. i'll try to post some recent ones as i've done much to my van since i last took those pics..

The website for the 56mm TB is http://www.*****************. They claim they are the only company that makes an oversized TB for the Chrysler vans. They also make a drop kit, mounts, and injectors for the van also. Check it out. It's pretty good.

Also, if anybody is interested, I found another company that makes aftermarket accessories for the NS: VMaxx. Their address is www.vmaxx.de. Saw some amazing headlights on that site......now if I only knew german I could figure out if they're HID lights or not.

i have not a clue.. that's cool how www.vmax.de. has the same products are my site too =P mine is www.startec.de., i wonder if they are the same company.. i tried calling mine up to buy a pair of those cool looking headlights, but they said they don't import those anymore.. they only import the 01-03 newmer mini-van style parts... argh.. anyways, i think we're both talking about the same two sites.. is the other one you're talking about deyemer racing?www.*****************... i don't think their are too many caravan modifiers out there...

and i doubt the lamps come HID styled, you can always just get a HID kit and put it on...

Yeah, Deyemer Racing is the company I was talking about. I heard about Startech earlier and I really wanted those lights......oh well.....I guess I'm gonna get the headlights from VMaxx and maybe fit in the turn signals from the previous Town and Country. That should look pretty cool.

That is definitely odd that it wouldn't display the link properly.

Checked out the site, and definitely heading back for a closer inspection.

It's not odd, we got banned real early on for asking you other Caravan owners if you'd like to see us make more mods for the Caravan. We do carry some things for them, and we ourselves own a '96 Grand Voyager we use to commute and to tow our racecar, a '96 Neon ACR. We posted a link to our website, which happens to be a business. Now it's a naughty word!

One of these days we'll get with the people that run this site and beg for mercy. My guess is they'll be ok with the name once we throw some dead presidents their way.... everybody's gotta make a buck.
