Myself I would pass on it! They do nothing for the looks.

Damn, and to think I was gonna say give it a shot... you never know when you might need to throw something up there. But it appears I'm the minority in thinking that. lol
Is it something that can be taken off?

{sound of soap box being dragged into position**
Roof racks are the biggest waste of gasoline in the USA. They are almost never used, and they increase the aerodynamic drag a surprising amount - typically 10% - which decreases mpg by 4-6%
The automakers could easily make the roof racks removeable, but they don't. I have a 'suction cup' set of tie downs that I was skeptical would let go, but every time I have used them (to haul a white water raft) they have worked flawlessly.
The best way to carry extra baggage is with one of those hitch point carriers -- they actually decrease the aerodynamic drag.

Well, order placed roof rack free!! I am expecting the car to be here around thanksgiving. that may be a little far fetched, but i'd rather hope for the worst, and be pleasantly supprised. CANT WAIT!!

i hated the roof rack at first.
i had no choice in the matter.
well, my impatience forced me to get it.
however, now that i have it, i love it.
i think its the lack of cross bars that make the roof rack look awkward.
i also think the black racks blends in better with the black magnum.
i'll be putting it to use come winter/snowboard season.
check out the pic.

I need it for my surfboard. I dont want to have to carry it inside the car like they do in the Dodge commercial, lol. (actually I'll probably keep driving my truck to the beach like always and never use the roof rack a single time but might as well get one anyway because you never know, right??) :D
And I dont think it ruins the look of the Magnum anymore than it ruins the look of a Pacifica or Grand Caravan.

thanx!
those r 22" TSW carltons on 265/35/22 hankook rubber.
does anybody know if dodge has made a snowboard roof rack to fit on the crossbars? also, the cross bars feel kind of flimsy. any opinions on the stregth of those on the magnum or any other dodge factory crossbars for that matter? i'd hate to drive to the mtn. and find my boards been flappin around in the wind and scratchin stuff up.

Thule makes a snowboard rack for the factory rack of the magnum, they have required that you use the Thule crossbars, they tested the magnum crossbars and did not approve them for use with their products...
this is the only company i know of that has the magnum tested and approved...
i spoke with them yesterday...

nothing wrong with roof racks. it's up to the individual if he'll use them or not. if he doesn't need them, then he shouldn't order them.

thanx for the info.
i had a feeling that factory crossbars are kinda weak.
they bend and flex while im up on top cleaning the car with just a little bit of pressure.
