This thing went out on my 98 grand caravan. Through a code so naturally I replaced it. 2 weeks later, it went out again. Replaced it again but noticed I was about a gallon low on coolant. I figured the fans were working over time and that blew the relay. So I filled her back up and all was fine.... well for another 2 weeks anyway. It blew again. And i was low on coolant again. This time, I found the low coolant problem. Water pump is leaking. But the rela is still blown, at about the same time, the A/c Clutch died on me. Could this be related? I also noticed that the "batterie" wire lead on the realy was melted. I checked the AMPs at both fans, the right had 8.2 amps and the left had 5.7 amps. I this correct, or are my fans bad? I wired around the relay to a swich the cab for now. Also are bo fans supposed to run at the same time? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really need to get to the bottom of this. Thank you.

Check the fans themselves to see if they spin freely. Tolerances on these are tight, and if there is any deformation or cracking of the shroud, they could be binding, which might seize the motors, cause the overheating, blow your relay, etc., etc.

Good luck.

Wel the fans pin freely, one of them has a clicking noise. I'll check the shroud for posible cracks and stuff. Do the fans has the correct AMPs listed on them somewhere? Thanks.

Sorry, I have no expertise in that area. When I looked at mine, the shroud was cracked in three places and one of the motors had already seized. No mystery about what was wrong.
