dddd My truck doesn't seem to be warming up like usual. I drove through the Mountains the other morning when I arrived I tried to turn the heater on. It blew luke warm. I started watching the temp guage it stayed near 0. Driving home with a load it still stayed near 0 until I went up a real steep pass with no OD it went up to normal for a moment. Can any on help and will it hurt to drive it until I do solve it.

Sounds a little odd to me. I guess my first thought would be that the temperature sending unit was faulty. Even in the dead of an Ohio winter, my truck will run at or near normal temperatures. It may take a little while to get there, but doesn't run anywhere near 0° except on initial startup. Even if the thermostat were stuck open, it would run warmer than that. I would think that if it is just the sender, no damage could really occur, unless of course it is overheating and you just don't know it. Perhaps someone with more know-how would know if the computer reads the temp from the sender as far as fuel delivery, timing, etc, or if it reads it elsewhere. That is the only thing that I could think of. If by chance it really is running that cool, I would love to know what is causing it to do so.

Is the truck full of antifreeze? Any work done on cooling system recently?
I would strongly suspect that the thermostat is stuck open. The motor warmed up a bit as you pulled a grade and then cooled down. Got to be the thermostat.
It is not the best to run a diesel cold. Put a piece of cardboard in front of radiator. Cut out a hole in the cardboard's center. Monitor the temp gauge.
