Well I finally killed my 360.I bought a 91 tbi 360 out of a wrecked RamCharger to replace it.I plan on running an Offenhauser 360 degree dual plane spread bore intake with a 795 cfm Edelbrock Q-jet,headers,MSD,and all the other goodies off of the other motor. My truck already has a built 727 and 3.55 gears in it so I think it will still have some ass.Any thoughts?

Cherry Bombs are redneck :) They give a nice old school sound though, if you get the right ones.

Everyone knows Flowmasters are junk they just make noise, I've had glasspacks on everything except my current Silverado, it's got a nice long Magnaflow on it

Well, here's the thing: unless you're built, you're really not going to notice any difference from any of them, except when you go from a stock muffler to aftermarket. I'd have to see some time slips to believe that Cherry Bombs makes more power than a FM on a stock or mild engine. Dyno sheets are worthless unless done to the same vehicle on the same day w/ the same weather conditions, w/ no other mods done. I've had single and dual glasspacks, and I much prefer the sound of the FM 40's.

Flowmaster 40-series muffs ARE junk and sound bad too!

Why are they junk? I didn't notice any power loss going from 'packs to the 40's. They worked good enough for me to run a 10.00@65mph in my '72 D100, w/ the original 200k+ mile 318 2-bbl and a 3-spd manual trans and 3.23 gears.

Sound is a personal preference, some like to hear the blat blat of 'packs all day, some don't. I have no problem w/ people disliking the sound of FM's, I just have problems w/ people spouting off about how horrible they are w/o backing it up w/ facts. If you put 40's on your vehicle and it lost power or slowed down at the track or ran bad no matter what tuning, then you put something else on and it got better, then post it up. If you're just repeating babble off the net, please don't :)

And remember, according to FlowMaster themselves, their mufflers should be installed using smaller pipe after the muffler. How many people did that? Nobody I know (including myself), except one guy on the S6 forum, at the recommendation of a another guy on there that works at a muffler shop and went to a FM seminar. The guy followed their guidelines and voila, no drone and ran better. Here is the thread: http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36715&highlight=magnaflow

Don't get me wrong, I don't think FM's are the be all-end all of mufflers, I'm actually looking into different mufflers for various others of my projects (my '93 D150, the Diplomat, etc). I actually like the Thrush knock-off that's on my '93 right now, similar sound to the FM but slightly deeper and no drone. I may get a set of FlowTechs for the '72 eventually, or maybe for the Dippy. I just want to see real info on them, not myths and misinfomation.

Had a 40 series on my Silverado, 3"in 3"out, wasn't a fan of the sound so I went with a 22" long Magnaflow to quiet it down a bit and I noticed an ass of the pants difference, what it was worth as far as power or 1/4 mile times is beyond me.

I love my FM40, i had it done the way they reccomend, ( smaller tailpipe than the pipe going to it. I wish it was a bit louder but it's good.

if i go duels i plan on fm40's or big long 'packs.
