Purchased this truck for $350.00. A 1979 Dodge D200, 318, Auto, DANA 60, 4:10's, tilt wheel.
Thought I would take the cab and front clip and install it on my 72. Then got to liking it and decided to make it a hauler.
Been ripping and tearing the last few days. The little sliding door on the lower right was the secret get-a-way for (I Hate You Mieces To Pieces). Talk about the nest from Hell!
Between the cat and traps five have been laid to waste.
Truck is in over all good shape and really no rust. Basically needs the usual.

The engine in this thing was not running right. Pulled the tank and got rid of the bad gas. Ran some new fuel lines and while there was an improvement it still had issues.
Hooked up the trusty vacuum gauge and it was sitting at 13. Not good. This was after all the hoses on the engine were replaced.
Did a compression check starting on the left bank and all were at 125lb with the back cylinder checking in at 130lbs. Looking good.
Went to the right bank and #2 rung in at 75lbs. Ah rats. The remaining three were not allot better with the highest reading being 95lbs.
Did a wet check on #2 and it improved to 95LBS. Popped the valve to make sure all the rockers were moving full travel and no broken spring problems. Looked OK and the inside of the engine was very clean.
Decided to give the product (SEAFOAM) a whirl. Never was much a believer in these miracle engine cures but why not. Poured some in the crank and carb as instructed. Nothing got better. Wasn't surprised.
Did a cylinder leak down check on #2 this AM and air was gushing out the right tail pipe. Yep, burnt exhaust valves. Didn't even check the reamainig three.
Curious why just the right bank? After the holidays I'll tear that side down. Trying to keep cost at minimum on this one.

Heat riser valve stuck closed?
As always Charlie's on top of his game.
I did check that valve. It moves freely and springs back into position. Not binding at all. When I pull it down I will check it further though.
In the meantime I hooked up my manual oil pressure gauge and she is reading (56lbs) on a cold engine. That's good news.
Someone just put new brakes all around with new front rotors and a bearing pack. That's good news as well. I'll consider myself lucky on this valve issue.
On a side note I still had one more mouse living in the cab. I set two traps last night (one on each floor pan) and I check them this AM and there is a trap missing.
No big deal. Likely hopped around and ended under the seat. Yeah right. The trap is no where to be found. Likely still attached to the mouse in the dash/heater area some where. That's going to smell great.

Don't forget the exhaust passage thru the intake.
