Is there such a thing as a "4 core" for our trucks? I see one for sale in the local Kijjijji.

Buck,
Not that I am aware of, but I would sure like to know if somebody offers one.
What is "Kijjijji"? It appears that you are in Alberta; is that a Canadian chain? And can you please post a corporate web address?
Thanks.

Fins, Kijiji is a free classified website like craigslist, just not as good.

Kijiji is similar to "Craigs List". Private individuals advertise for free.
Here's the link to Kijiji

Buck,
If it is indeed for a Dodge truck, it is probably several years old and would need re-coring. I haven't seen a four-row shown in any catalog for many years now. Buy with caution. Still . . .
On the other hand, if it is cheap enough you might wish to go ahead and buy it. I understand that ALL of the copper-brass radiators for ALL applications are being phased-out, period. Even if you have to have it re-cored, it may be worth it just to have the brass tanks --and to avoid plastic-and-aluminum replacements. Check with a local radiator shop first and be sure they can still get a copper core for it.

So it was a 3 row rad but recored 3 months ago and in perfect condition. All copper/brass tanks and core. Came out of a big block truck that was T-boned.
Not bad for $60. :) It's going into my '79 cuz my lower tank is cracked....

I believe that the 426 and the 440 had the big radiators. My son put a 400 in his pickup and they had to ad another core to it. His truck had a 360 in it and reworked the radiator for the 400.

On this one the cores are just as thick as the tanks so another row couldn't be added. It is also wider than most of the dodge rads I have at 26" but my rad support requires this width.

When I installed a 3 row in my van (26" width) I found that 4 rows were availble. The 3 row core was listed at 2" thick, 4 row at 2-3/16". This meant the 4 row tubes were smaller than those on a 3 row. (I went 3 row for this reason.)

There must be significantly more surface area on the 3 row...

I thought so, that's why I went with it.
(A 4 row would have a another space between the 3rd and 4th row of at least 1/8" which would use most of the additional 3/16" thickness difference.)

my 83 came factory with "HD Cooling" and a 3 row radiator. I keep looking for a spare every time that I go junking, I have a near new 2 row that I got from a pic n pull and though I think it would be "adequate" I am not interested in a "downgrade" should my 3 row fail even though mines only a 318. I had to have mine "rebuilt" about 6 months ago, I had soldered a couple leaks in the top tank and was tired of "chasing" the leak. the radiator guy had to basically coat the engine side of the top tank with a solid coat of solder 1/8" thick or so. I may check Ebay to see if I can find an NOS Modine "Heat Buster" version. these were, IIRC 3 row. different fin config for better airflow too.
