Does anyone know for sure how much torque/HP the engine or transaxel (whichever is the weakest link) on the srt-4 can handle. I am going for the stage-3 when it comes out, have stage 2 now and would like to add a small shot of No2 but dont feel like paying to have the transaxel rebuilt.
I am used to old muscle cars and compared to front wheel drive cars they are bulletproof. I know that the tranny on front wheel drives are very week which is why i ask this question

the trans on the srt-4 is very strong, and it uses equal-lenght halfshafts that are also equally as strong as the trans. As far as max hp, I don't know that yet, the SRT-4 is still kinda young in the aftermarket and such. I can tell you that because the engine is a 2.4 liter iron block, and the con rods are built by using a forged and cracked method, the engine is very strong. I would say the stock block could support up to 450-whp, but not possitive. As far as NO2, you can use it, but the gears are kinda short so you might just spin tires. Look for some sticker tires first, i guess. Just my .02 cents

steve blew that motor up like 3 months ago....and that was due to a fuel issue, not the engine giving out. he dynoed about 550 on the second motor before that one blew up too (hadn't fixed the problem). the engine is capable of handling more than the 550 as long as it's tuned properly and fuel is not an issue.
keep an eye out for steve's new car, as well as the psi-fi race car that will hopefully be making an appearance sometime this season. those two cars will be pushing the limits, and each will most likely have over 600 hp....

Steve's a crazy man. That's all I will state as an opinion of mine. haha.
Seems like the SRT-4's drivetrain is pretty much bulletproof except the clutch. The clutch can't stand 530hp...but the rest of the drivetrain can.
If I remember right, the reason why Steve blew the motor is cuz he was running lean and didn't both to correct it?
Anybody hear what's happened to Steve lately? I haven't heard any news of a 600whp neon yet...
