Just noticed my 1998 Caravan is showing signs of major rust damage at the drivers Strut mount area. My van has only 99,000 miles on it and is a garage kept vehicle. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks,
John

Not here. I guess it must have got out of the garage I time or two to get 99K on her though;)
Do you live in area with heavy winter salting or industial fallout?

Concord,
I have had BIG problems with this on my 1996 Town & Country. Mine has 258K miles on it right now, and over that time, I have replaced 3 upper strut mounts on the driver's side, and 1 on the passengers. Each time, the top of the strut shot right through the mount and bottomed against the underside of the cowl. It makes the vehicle wander quite a bit when this happens, but you can usually coax it carefully to a repair shop, and they can usually save the strut. Of course, I'm on my third set of those now anyway, due to my mileage.
I lived in Michigan until three months ago, where the road salting was heavy, and I traveled a lot of dirt roads for work, so this may have been a contributing factor, but by all means if you have any concerns, go get it repaired. I believe it ran me about $195 for one side. Most of that was the mount -- not a cheap part.
Good luck
Rick
