Does anyone know if 17" wheels from a 2001-2002 Caravan will fit a 1997 Caravan?

No.
The hub-centric center hole is drilled a different diameter on the 2001-present van, compared to 2000 and earlier vehicle. If it's too big, the wheel will wobble and come loose. If it's too small, it will not fit. The offset is not necessarily OK either.

Hey, thanks for the info. My 97 caravan has 16" wheels now. Does any 16 or 17" wheel from a caravan between 96 and 2000 will fit?

Larger wheels designed for the same "generation" minivan will fit. In your case, I think it's the '96-'00 generation or series. Within a "generation", Dodge did not change offset, hub bore or bolt pattern requirements.
Wheel fitment info can be found at tirerackdotcom.
Fitting smaller wheels is sometimes a problem because mfrs often install the biggest brake system that will fit under the stock wheel. For example, a 2004 Grand Caravan with Touring option and 16" wheels has brakes that are too big to fit a 15" wheel.

yes. if the van has at least 15" wheels to begin with. the bolt pattern for the 14's is the same as the neon's and sebring/stratus sedans. the 15+'' caravan pattern is the same from 1992ish up. so you can use stock, 15's, 16's or 17's maybe even 18's from a 300m.
