Last week we took a test drive in a loaded Mag Rt. When we took it out on the freeway I could hear a fairly loud flapping noise coming from the lower passenger-side doors or rocker panels. It could be heard most loudly at speeds above 65mph. To me it sounded like a piece of plasitc trim or something wasn't attached properly or wasn't sturdy enough to handle the wind load at free-way speed.

I tried to look under the car to see if a trim clip or something wasn't tight but I didn't see anything.

It's a bit disconcerting hearing this in such a pricey car(over $35g's on the sticker). It sounded like something that would eventually fall off the car if not corrected.

Anyway, has anyone else heard this or have any idea what it could be?

Thanks,
Ken

Nahhh, all 4 outboard belts were in use at the time. :D

I found out what makes the noise, a couple Magnum owners on dodgeboy.com forums have the same problem. They showed a picture of what causes it, but nobody is exactly sure what the piece is function is. One guys said he thought it was a cabin pressure relief "valve" which will allow the doors to shut easier.

If you own a 3rd gen ram you know how airtight the cab which makes shutting
the doors a bit difficult. So it makes sense that they put some kind pressure relief in their higher end cars so you don't have to slam the doors.

OK just checking I test drove a mitsubishi eclipse once and herd something flapping in the wind and sure enough it was the seatbelt.

What did the dealer say about the 'flapping'?
