:help: I am in need of some information on the Dodge Caravan. I am looking into possibly purchasing a used Caravan and wonder what you have to say about them. I have driven one and liked it, but Consumer Reports and other articles I have looked at don't sound really good so I'm coming to the people that really should know. Can someone tell me the pros and cons of the Caravan?, What years are better than others? Right now I'm researching 98 to 02s. Please email me at slcanell@myway.com.

From 98 to 02 they are all good. Pre 01's have had a few issues with blowing differential pins through the trans case if there was excessive wheel spinning.
Really only thing major I can think of.

I have a 1994 Dodge Caravan.
3.3L V6. Dodge Caravans ( especially around 94s) have a huge problem with transmission.Yeah they all work good. But when you buy a 1994 Caravan in 2004.Be sure to ask if the transmission was rebuilt.
Second thing I know is that replacing the alternator and spark plugs ( 1.3 and 5) are hell.
The alternator: You have to get under the car.If you want to save time. But believe me you need a lot of space. And I tried it.It doesnt have room to get out underneath the vehicle.SO you have to unscrew the alternator mounting. It took me 4 hours to replace mine by trying to get it out by the hood.
The next major problem is when you drown :) your 3.3 L with gas.Your pretty much in trouble because the only spark plugs you can either change or clean are the ones in the front. They are very accessible. But the other 3 that start (1.3.5) are just unreachable from the under the hood.
So I always change the ones in the front :)!
Although these are the little problem of the Dodge Caravans. I can live with it.Because I like them. They are full of space. They have good style. The interior is pretty good and the exterior is nice.
Good vans.I would buy another one.In fact. I wouldnt consider buying another Van than Dodge Caravans.
