:help:

I have a 96 Neon 2.0 SOH that doesn't start. It seems not to get any spark. Could someone tell me how to get the fault codes out of this engine? My son claims this car as his and he gets his license in 2 weeks. :help:

Welcome to the site

lets cover the basics first:

do you know the last time the distributor cap, rotor, wires and spark plugs were changed ?

have you checked the strength of the battery ?

what is it specifically doing ? We will try to help you out

it doesn't have a cap and rotor, that would be easy.

The best thing you can do is get it to someone that has a diagnostic scan tool. Can't backyard these motors. Could be a bad crank sensor, cam sensor, the valve timing could be out, shorted sensor, blown fuse. Sorry I can't give you a step by step here as you really need some computer aides diagnostics to get this solved quickly.

it cranks over really well but doesn't fire. I checked the valve on the fuel rail and it seems to be getting fuel. I drove it into the garage a few weeks ago and it ran well then. Is there a way to get the codes off it without any electronics?

have u replaced all the simple stuff like wires and plugs? check the injector connections as well. i always use an obd but i think its u turn the key to acc 3 times then start not sure if thats right but if it the check engine light will flash count the numbers of flashes and if there are pauses thats spacing so if it blinks then pauses and blinks again then thats 1-1.
