What type of tranny and fluid????

I recently bought an 87 Ram in really nice shape overall, but with some issues. Two things I cannot seem to find....

1 - what type of tranny is in the thing...727?? It is an 87 LE with the318 2 barrel carb.

2 - I want to change the tranny fluid and filter, but I can't seem to determine the right type of fluid...is it Dexron III or ATF +3 or +4???

I used ATF+3 in my 87 when I serviced it & +4 in the 96.
You tranny should be a updated 904 or 727. They changed the number degsignation to 998 and something else that I can't think of right now.
The +4 is backward compatable with all mopar trannys as far as I know.
