Hey all, have a 1990 d150 and the odometer and trip are not functioning. Anyone know why? 318 engine. The speedo seems to be working ok as are the rest of the guages. Thanks for any help.

Take a look at the wiring harness on the transmission, the ones on mine were in bad shape, I had to tape almost all of them individually because the insulation had cracked off. It'll probably be filthy too. If you disconnect the 3 points of connection from the transmission, you can pull it up at the firewall on the passenger side, & there's a disconnect plug right there. This might be the problem, if not, check for a loose connection behind the instrument cluster.

Had the same problem with my 90 W250. If the speedo is working then it most likely not electrical. I took the cluster out pulled the speedo and took it a part. There is a gear that drives both the odometer and trip meter. I found a place on line and ordered a new gear. All good now. Here is a link to the site I got the gear from. The one I needed was C11 the first one on the page.
