We have alot of racers around here! They have shut down all racetracks here local Other than dirt tracks. So young half simple guys get in and do it anyhow and any where there is a staight away. I dont part take in any weekend road racing but wont let a good race go to waste neither.
I foung myself racing my neighbor boy in his modded honda. He told me that day it was stock. Later I find out he was jerking my chain he had put in a high output prelude motor. And now nos.I was not able to pass him that day but he wasnt able to shake me neither. He was really impressed with the ACR neon.He is into it big and not a bad body man neither I seen from a recent trip to his house.Any how he invited me to meet with them and race or not.Im a little old to be trying that shit but it is really tempting to go smoke a few punks.I really dont want to get any tickets lol.
It really sucks to not have a strip around here, and people have to go find a peice of high way with other people who may posiblly have kids traveling it and racing at over 100 mph . Seems like the State would be smarter than that.Well im going to shut up now becouse im rambling on. Later folks.

If you can't race in a controlled setting then there are too many variable to chance killing yourself or some innocent bystander or someone just trying to drive home to see there spouse and children. Is prison time worth "SMOKING" a few punks?

well around here when you cant afford to pay the price at a race track then we do it on the streets here and nothing has gone wrong cuz we wait until its late when there not meny cars around and we use roads that people dont use to much really. but when you start racing you cant stop.....

I don't really believe in street racing myself, but I will smack a ricer around if they ask for it. Usually it's over way before 100 mph.

a srtt4 is not that fast.. i seen a integra whoop a stock srt with just a few bolts on a gsr motor... exhaust, intake and headers.. still even doe that gsr got bolts on he still have about 200 hp compare to a srt4 who got a 265 or so.. but everything depends on the driver... you cant say that its safe all the time.. you might not notice there a a drunk driver on the road... but hey its your choice..

Street Racing is stupid. I've seen people seriously injured or killed (Saw some guy ripped in half when he lost control of his car while racing and hit a pole). It's not a fun site to see ... Keep it off the streets, keep it on the tracks!

well i dont see anything wrong in handing a ricers ass back to em after he runs his mouth and his engine. i mean think about it isnt it great when youve got a guy in a mustang 4.6L with an atx sit at a light telling you his stang can whoop your neon and you drop the clutch and youre gone...i think so i love that feeling and rush you get when youve handed someones ass back to em after theyve been runnin thier mouth or thier engine at a light...i know this though, the day i get my neon done ill be smokin ferraris and lamborghinis all day long (assuming i can find one lol) :D but as for dodgeneon_chick just be careful when you race i too have seen alot of pple get slaughtered from it..just last week there was a firebird full of kids that thought they could get drunk and race ....the tree they hit thought differently. cut the car clean in half and they all died......anyway just be careful to all those who race on the streets. hell maybe ill see one of you here and we could have some fun :rck: :smokin: :drivingz: :evillaugh :evillaugh :evillaugh

Id have to agree with most of you, street racing is not a good idea, however I have raced a few people in my old t-bird 5.0 and in my Durango but nothing over 40mph top speed. A lot of bad accidents happen to people that street race, but a lot of bad accidents happen to people just speeding like idiots, not being experienced drivers, and driving cars they shouldnt. Here is an article from the town I grew up in here in CA( I now live one town farther north) about a horrible car crash that involved kids from the high school I attended during my fresh, soph, and half of junior years. Its sorta long but I think you should read it.

PETALUMA TEENS HURT IN HORRIFIC CRASH

A Casa Grande High School star running back faces possible criminal charges for a high-speed traffic accident that seriously injured him and three other students from the Petaluma school, including one who remains unconscious with a brain injury.

Joseph Trombetta, who is recovering from collapsed lungs at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, was driving his new Ford Mustang about 100 mph when it hurtled off a winding country road west of Petaluma late Friday night, according to the CHP.

Trombetta, who got the car about three months ago when he turned 16, may have violated state law prohibiting new drivers from having other teen-agers in the car, said Casa Grande Assistant Principal Dennis Herrington.

The accident was so devastating that rescue crews at first feared that two of the students had died. All four of the teens remain hospitalized.

Brett Callan, 16, a close friend of Trombetta and a varsity basketball player, remains unconscious from a brain injury, said CHP Officer Patrick Ensley.

Callan is at Memorial Hospital with bruising to the right side of his brain and broken vertebrae in his neck. His father said he has squeezed his hand and opened one eye but is mostly non-responsive.

Ashley Barbieri, 15, had a fractured pelvis and was undergoing surgery Monday for a broken shoulder and internal bleeding.

Michelle Gallagher, 15, had reconstructive facial surgery after the right side of her face was severely injured in the crash.

Both girls are being treated at Marin General Hospital.

No alcohol was involved in the accident and all the students were wearing seat belts, authorities said.

Trombetta and his friends were supposed to go out for a hamburger late Friday night, but instead took the new car for a spin on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road out to the Cheese Factory in Marin County. On their way home, at 11:20 p.m., the speeding car left the road on a curve.

``He wanted to see how fast the car could go,'' said Herrington, who talked to family members Monday.

The Mustang went airborne off the roadway and hit a ditch, launched into the air, tumbling end over end, missing an electrical pole by inches before landing about 80 feet away on its roof, said Ensley and school officials.

The car was so badly damaged that paramedics thought the two teen-agers in the back seat, Callan and Barbieri, had died, Ensley said.

Callan's father, L.J. Callan, said the broken vertebrae does not appear to have caused any paralysis and isn't as serious as the brain bruise.

``It's just a waiting game right now,'' L.J. Callan said. ``It's pretty much up to him how fast his brain may heal. He's young and healthy, so we're hoping and praying.''

Callan, an outstanding basketball player, played on the varsity team as a sophomore and led the team in scoring in several games.

Trombetta is one of Casa's best athletes, and as a sophomore had colleges scouting him as he broke records as a running back on the varsity team.

Trombetta was a Press Democrat All-Empire football player of the year, unusual for a sophomore. He rushed for 2,008 yards and scored 22 touchdowns, both school records.

Last season he led the Gauchos to the North Coast Section 3A football title game. He also was named a Cal-Hi all-state player.

Herrington, who knew the two athletes but not the two girls, said the boys never had problems at school.

``They're two happy-go-lucky kids,'' said Herrington. ``Trombetta had a season, but he didn't have an ego. They were no trouble, ever. Nice kids. Both of them could have promising careers.''

Trombetta's parents could not be reached for comment.

Callan's mother, Julie, and older sisters, Kim and Karen, have been holding vigil at the hospital. About 60 students have been in the waiting room for the past two days as word of the accident spread. A group of students got a glimpse of Callan as he was wheeled by, unconscious, in a gurney, his father said.

He said he hopes at least one student will be spared a similar fate by being aware of the dangers of driving recklessly.

``I just hope it will save all these kids from making these mistakes,'' said Callan, who owns a deli in San Rafael where his son worked. ``It's a tough way to learn a lesson, but I hope they all learn it.''

Callan said his son and Trombetta have been close friends since the Trombettas moved to their neighborhood two years ago.

``He's like one of my sons,'' Callan said. ``He's in my house all the time. It's very hard. They're all a good group of kids, and it's just a horrible accident.''

Herrington said Gallagher, who moved to Petaluma three months ago, is facing more surgery on her face. Her mother said there is hope Gallagher will be able to recover fully, but that remains uncertain.

The charges that Trombetta could face have not yet been determined.

Ensley said Trombetta may be arrested when he has recovered sufficiently to leave the hospital, which may happen today. Or the CHP may wait until the Marin County District Attorney reviews the case and decides what type of charges may be filed. Ensley declined to give further details because Trombetta is a minor.

Herrington said the hospital is having trouble dealing with the deluge of well-wishers and friends of the family, but didn't wish to turn anyone away. He said students and families are already bringing cards and letters to his office that he will deliver to the families.

Assistant Principal Linda Brinbaum said students also are learning about the severe consequences from a momentary bad decision.

``They see a horrible accident and it has an immediate impact, but it's easy to forget the lessons we are trying to teach,'' Brinbaum said. ``I just always wish it doesn't take a tragedy for the students to really understand what a bad combination it is to be reckless when you're behind the wheel.''
PETALUMA TEEN'S FIRST STEPS ON LONG ROAD TO RECOVERY

Here is a little more from another article written, keep reading please.

As the Mach 1 Mustang sped wildly along a rural road west of Petaluma, passenger Ashley Barbieri remembers the moments before a deadly crash that would forever change the lives of the four teens inside.

The 14-year-old Casa Grande High School student remembers the frightening moment when they knew they would crash.

``I just remember Joe saying, `Oh my God, I've lost control,' and I remember Michelle screaming,'' she said Friday.

Barbieri was riding in the back seat next to Brett Callan, 16, a friend who would not survive the June 25 crash.

Joe Trombetta, 16, who had been licensed only a few months, was driving. Michelle Gallagher, 15, was in the front passenger seat.

Barbieri suffered life-threatening injuries, but she may leave Oakland Children's Hospital today after being moved there from Memorial Hospital for a second round of surgery 11 days ago.

She fought off high fevers and pneumonia for three weeks. She started eating small amounts of food last week. Now Barbieri is anxious to get home, even though she will be undergoing therapy for months.

She won't be able to play soccer for a year, something that bothers her terribly.

``I want to get out of here,'' she said. ``I want to get home and be able to see my friends a lot more.''

In a telephone interview from her hospital bed, Barbieri said she doesn't remember the 2003 Mustang flying off the road, striking an embankment or cartwheeling end-over-end for 80 feet before landing on its roof and sliding 235 feet through a cattle pasture.

She remembers regaining consciousness in the mangled car, pinned and folded in half, with her head between her legs and her friend Callan pinned partly on top of her.

``I remember waking up in the car and screaming at the top of my lungs, `Oh my God, get me out of here,' '' she said.

A firefighter, who quickly arrived on scene from a rural fire station across the street, tried to reassure her.

``It's OK. It's OK. We've got you. We'll get you out of there,'' she remembers the fireman telling her. Then she lost consciousness again.

She was finally freed from the wreckage 90 minutes later. Taken by ambulance to Marin General Hospital, the paramedics weren't sure if she'd survive the drive. Because of the severity of her injuries she was put under such heavy medication she remembers nothing of the first week and was mostly unconscious.

The long list of injuries makes her sound like a battlefield survivor.

Her left arm was broken below the shoulder and the bones had pulled apart. A screw was put in her separated and fractured pelvis to bring it back together. Two lower vertebrae had to be fused with a rod and the ligaments in her back were torn. She had emergency surgery to stop internal bleeding from a torn intestine and rectum. Her kidney and heart were bruised. A lung had collapsed. Her left leg was weak from nerve damage. She had bruises and cuts everywhere.

Trombetta, who had a collapsed lung but was released from the hospital three days after the crash, has come to visit Barbieri several times.

Gallagher, who had surgery to repair severe injuries to her face and may face more surgeries, also has made visits.

Callan was unconscious and on life support because of a brain injury. He died eight days after the accident.

Barbieri said it was difficult to learn Callan had died and it was hard for her not to be able to attend his funeral. In a letter read at the services, she wrote about how quickly he had become such a good friend.

Barbieri will wear a back brace and be confined to a wheelchair for six weeks to avoid putting any pressure on her left side. She'll have to undergo the uncomfortable prospect of weeks of physical therapy. It will be a long, hard road to recovery, said her mother, Amanda Barbieri.

Its sad to see the results of such stupidity of young drivers who own vehicles of this magnatude. Just because he wanted to see the speed of his new car he nearly got himself killed and all of his friends(atleast only one was fatal but its still really sad). A 16 year old non experienced driver SHOULD NOT in my opinion own a vehicle like this. Period. His football future is now at stake as well.

Another crash involved a extremely popular guy at the same high school the year before I started at Casa which was another act of stupidity. There was this one section of Corona Road out in the hills or Petaluma where it was up-and-down like a roller coaster in two sections. A lot of kids would go out there and speed up and down to get a roller coaster like affect in their cars(this was done for many many years). There were 4 people in the car doing this, one being Adam Westcott who was an all around good guy from what my girlfriend has told me (she went to school with him and knew him) and never treated anybody differently no matter who they were or what they looked like. Hed befriend anyone who wanted to be his friend. He was a star athelete in baseball. Anyways, as they sped over the hill the girl driving hit the brakes when she saw approaching headlights and the car fishtailed into a utility pole which ended up killing Adam two days later.

Is this crap really worth it??? Ask yourself that before you go screwing around whether its just seeing how fast you can go or trying to hand back the ass of some ******* who thinks hes badder then you. I cant say I dont do stupid things when I drive but I do them very causiously and if I second guess anything for a second I dont go through with it.

Im hoping to change the thinking of atleast one mind here with these stories.

john i agree with you on that but you have to remember its the kids that dont have the expirence that causes and starts recks....just today there was a female driving a chevy tahoe and the roads were wet, well the light turned red and she couldnt stop in time. well she locked up back brakes and spun 180 degrees, almost hitting me. bassically the point is if you cant control your car and you dont know what it can or cant do dont race. and please always look for other ppl and cops.

well, thats true ...to a point. you can be an incredibly skilled driver and still get in a wreck. what if one of those unskilled drivers pulls out in front of you or blows a red light or stop sign while youre racing and creams into you? no amount of skill can get you out of something like that.

fact is, there's really no safe or smart way to street race. and by street race, i mean guys who treat each stop light like a dragstrip tree and go way over the speed limit. i admit to being lined up next to people at stoplights and doing a quick run to 35 or 40 when the light goes green, but bombing through town or open roads doing 80+ is pretty nutty. i wouldn't be willing to wreck my truck, lose my license, get killed or kill somebody else for that.

well for one we well i dont go over 40 mph and the speed limit is 35 were we race and its not like at every stop light that we race we just do it for fun there.....we go out at night on a the high way were there is two lanes and run them there and we have not had any problems there....but i know what you guys mean with the racing in town thing my bf dose it all the time and i hate it...

I'm like most of you guys on here, I've street raced before, but now I pretty much keep to the track. I used to be one of those stupid teens and now know that I'm lucky nothing ever happened. If I do it on a street it's usually just a quick go and normallly won't go over the speed limit. I also know that it doesn't matter how much experience you have, you can't account for other people like someone said.

Yet another example: I was at a car show in Michigan and there were a couple 9 second 68 cudas there. They were really nice, fully tubbed and all the fancy airbrushing and everything with HEMI"S. These cars easily had over 100 grand in each. When everyone was leaving they decided to go at it from a light. REAL STUPID! As they were going someone pulled out of a restaurant parking lot and one cuda had to swerve to get out of the way. A fully modified for drag racing vehicle that's tubbed with huge meats on the back and super skinny's on the front isn't designed for handling and he ended up rolling over and ended up on the roof. This was an EXPERIENCED 40 something racer. Luckily he had to have a rollcage to race cause that saved him and his wife. Although there went that very fancy paint job and who knows what else! Granted a car like this doesn't normally drive on the street but it's still an example of how experience doesn't necessarily count for much sometimes.

The only "street racing" I have ever done is going from the green light to whatever whatever the speed limit is, but THAT'S IT! You should never go way over the speed limit and put people's lives in danger. If you're just doing some quick acceleration to embarass that guy in his expensive car who was making fun of you, then yeah it's fine as long as you obey the traffic rules. However, one thing to take note to when just doing some quick accelerating:

ALWAYS look to your right AND left before slamming the accelerator. Why? Cause there are tons of retards that go on red. So, if you're accelerating really fast, then you might get hit by that idiot, but if you watched out, you wouldn't be put in that situation.

Drive smart, and keep the racing on the tracks.

there's nothing to be said about street racers that hasn't been said already, but hey...if street racers have to die so innocent people can make it home to see their families, so be it. i have no sympathy whatsoever for street racers that get themselves killed. they had it coming. they're doing things their cars were never designed to do, and sometimes they die for it. hope it was worth it....... ;)
