I would like to be able to push the unlock button on the remote and not have the headlights turn on for 30-60 seconds. Can this function be defeated?
Thanks!

Glad mine doesn't do that. That sounds annoying.
Have you called the service department at one of the dealers and asked that question?
There may be a relay you can unplug or wire you can disconnect etc.
Sorry I don't know more about that year model.

The people who work in the service department of my only local dealer (2 others lost their franchise) are about as helpful as a pimple on my ass.

1). Please get that taken care of :rck:
2). TMI :SPIN:
3). I know what you mean...unless you're waving Franklins you're a nobody.
I wish I knew enough about that vehicle to help you.
First thing I do when I get a vehicle that is new to me (used or new), is get a good shop manual with a good electrical diagram and description of all electrical components.
There is obviously a timer tied to the ignition and headlights. There may be a setting for the timer or a way to purchase a plug in module that eliminates the delay.
Not much help....sry.

if it can be user disabled, then the owner's manual will tell you how. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be something you do special with the remote.
If it is dealer disabled, the owner's manual will tell you that.
If it is just that way and it can only be that way, It might not mention it at all, other than mentioning the lights turn on when you unlock.

I agree with Mad
Read the owners manual in the section of the remote. Mine (2001) had a very simple procedure to follow the change the fuction of how the remote worked. Its a simple turn the key on/off, slam a door, push a button on the remote ..Blah, blah, blah. Very easy. But..if it can't be done, then it can't be done.
