I have the 0455 - Large Evap Leak code on my 2000 Caravan, 3.5L

Wondering how many people actually fixed the problem by replacing the fuel tank filler pipe?

If so, how hard was it to do?

I've never done this fix but I figured I'd give this thread a bump so more people will look at it. It certainly doesn't sound like a hard job. Probably more time consuming than anything.

I would guess it's a couple of hours tops. You would need to disconnect the rubber connector going into the tank and figure out how to release the overflow separator. I do know there are 3 phillips head screws holding the top of the tube to the body.
I'm putting off doing this until I run out of reasons. Anyone know how much the new tube is?

It looks like a used one is about $60 bucks.

Of course a new one can be had for about $90 on ebay.

I have replaced the pipe, however it did not solve my 455 evap leak. Everything on the bottom of my van is corroded due to being up north in PA for many years. I had several large holes in the pipe. What you have to do is remove the fender well then remove the upper screws, then take the screw clamp of the tank. I believe there is one other screw holding the pipe to the frame.

I believe my leak is elsewhere but I have yet to find it

No, I don't have any visible signs of leaking, but have read that other people have suspected the filler hose/tube as causing the large evap leak code. I do smell gas quite often, sometimes right after initial startup in the morning.

I'm guessing its most likely in the area under the van around the engine cradle, where there is another box with lines running into it.

The best bet is to to test by smoke Test Machine, 2md there is few things i read about it, i have same error in my Dodge caravan 2001, but still i am trying by myself to find out leak but no sucess,

But any way here is my 2c advise....

take a look around Canister is there any damage on it, or any pipes connecting it loose, some rubber pipes connecting to it..seems that they are good but they are loosing pressure..at that point...
