2003 - Exhaust issues and Question

I have a 2003 Stratus SXT Coupe, and my flex pipe on my exhaust is rusted badly and I need to replace that piece. However, that piece is connected to the catalytic converter which I do not need to replace. That whole piece is approx. $800. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and maybe took it to an exhaust shop or something to make a custom flex piece to avoid having to buy that whole exhaust piece. I have to stop at a few exhaust garages to inquire if this can be done, but just thought I'd ask on here.

Im not sureo n the coupes as i havnt seen your exact routing but it "should" be possible. now if the flex connects directly to the cat what you mgiht have to do is see how god a welder he is and have him cut that off, move the cat down the line just a bit so that he can flange in a new flex. but not having seen the underside of the car i couldt tell you for sure.
