It is pretty much the same except for the new colour, and a new 'SRT Design' package.

what is in the new SRT Design package

I'm not to sure what is included in it, I just saw it listed as an option for the 05 SRT-4's.

are the 04's out yet? if not when? I am ready to buy one as soon as they hit the market! Mary

Yes there are some 05's out. SRT design package is a package that makes a regular SXT look like a SRT. :( kinda sucks there will be fake SRT's now.

looks awesome! They need to start putting vintage chrysler colors on srt-4's.

Yea, it won't look quite like one but you know that there will be a bunch of posts from civics and other ricers saying they beat a SRT-4

09-03-2004, 03:36 PM
Do you own one? My (guy)friend does and I love it! His is an 03 though and he would be mad if I (being a girl) had a newer better car than him! I am waiting for them to hit a dealer near me! I couldnt decide if I wanted to buy a suped up used one or buy it new!

Yes and no cuase these honda guys and everyone will be thinkin they smoked a SRT and when they actually come up to one it will make quick work of them Honda Boys

Bubba_Hemi
09-03-2004, 05:05 PM
Nah, cause the ricers will still say they smoked so many of them before... and make some kind of excuse when they do get owned by an actual SRT-4.

StarGazer, I'd say go ahead and get one... then it'll egg him on to step up and get something better... see if you can talk him into a Viper then. :) Of course you'll have to get the Viper SRT-10 after that though... lol

lrl1990
09-03-2004, 05:10 PM
Stargazer- If your talking to me, Yes I own a SRT-4

Tuner/Bubba- Yea most of them do say they have beaten them or say they could easily beat them even after they lose because most of them have huge egos. O well i guess, it still wont look exactly like the SRT-4 just a little more like it.

I've only gone up against a couple ricers in the new CTD... and only one was close but being me in my truck, I just eaze over (his lane ends and merges with mine) and forced him to get behind me cause he wouldn't be able to get in front of me. :)

I can't wait to get a nice intake and a programmer... that'll really make the Turbo scream and haul balls off the line. :ylsuper:

Got the first '05 SRT-4 off the truck into my local dealer, just happened to be Orange Blast. Stock model so I have a lot to play around with. Thinking about one of the Stage1-3 kits but I've heard that above Stage 1 they void the warranty. True???
Also when I did the test drive I drove an '04. When the sales rep started the '05 the tailpipe rumble is NOTICEABLY deeper. Bigger pipes maybe??? Anyway I'm way excited....

Welcome to Dodgetalk!

Nice choice in colors and car! I havent heard of any changes to the 05 SRT-4 besides the color but I have been out of the loop for a couple months.

Also, I believe the level one and two are covered under the warranty as long as the dealer installs it....the three is out of the question! :D Good luck!

It all depends on the dealer, some dealers if you add a shift knob they give you a hard time ( a little extreme but) and other dealers will let it go farther. Some dealers will void with any stage some will let you have stage 1. It all depends. Ask and get it in writing.

JACKSON!!!!
I moved out here to AZ from Sandy Hook (Atlantic Highlands)....

Where can I find the pricing on the Stage kits? I apologize for all the questions but I haven't done any performance car stuff for about 15 years and I was way out of the loop until I drove the SRT-4 and remembered how much fun going fast (quickly) was.

:D

Ok I know where you were from....did you move for work related reasons???

You can get prices right from dodge.

I moved out here for a job which disappeared 6 months after I got here. A lot of shady dealings went on and I got shafted to the tune of a couple of hundred thou (stock options, profit sharing, etc.). I've since heard that the company took a major hit and a lot of the management got what they deserved. Took me 14 months to get a comparable job and the money is about half but the cost of living is about the same (half) plus which no more cold wet heavy stuff to deal with.
When I signed the deal for the car it was Sunday and the parts department was closed so I'll check this AM when I pick the car up. I would have driven it off the lot but as I said it came off the truck Friday and they hadn't even done the PDI (Primary Dealer Inspection) where they set the computer, keys, electronics, etc. I had actually worked at that dealership for about 6 months so one of the salesmen I knew took me back to the area where only dealership people are supposed to go.

Got to get my little guy off to school so I'll talk later....

its sucks forrealz.. like if you see someone drivin it n you tell them nice srt4, they will respond its actually not an srt4, its an imitation type but daam.. they should not make any fake ones.. just build the 05 neon with srt5 package n drop in the srt4 motor in it too...

Well I picked up my 05 orange SRT-4 and have kind of been ignoring everything else (I wonder why 8^))). The car is an absolute rocket. I haven't run up against anything else that I haven't been able to leave in the dust. I lost a couple of rice-burners at around 90 after I was 50 or 60 feet in front of them.
But the real reason for this post is that I was talking to the parts guy about the Stage 1 & 2 upgrades and he told me that they had just gotten one in for an 05 AND IT DIDN'T HAVE THE JETS. He called Dodge and they said that the jets were already in the 05's. I don't know how true this is but I did do a little acceleration test against a friend who has an early 04 with the Stage 2 kit and cold air and I stayed pretty close until about 3rd gear (~75) when he started pulling away on me. Before anyone gets any idea about me burning up the streets we did this at a local track.
But the long and short of all this is that I haven't driven anything since my old NSX that can accelerate from 30 like this little rocket. So far the only 2 drawbacks are it gets about 22-25 MPG even on the highway and my wife and daughter say they can hear me coming a block away and have nicknamed the SRT the Neo-Batmobile 8^)).

The 4 isn't for the year... it's for the engine, that has a 4 cylinder engine it. Just like th SRT-10's have 10 cyclinders, SRT-8 (when it comes out) is an 8 cylinder.

I'm having trouble seeing 25 mpg as bein a drawback though...

I know that it's a 4 but what a 4! All I was saying was that I though it was interesting that they were putting Stage 2 jets into the 05 Dodge's and Chryslers. The service guy also mentioned that the Stage 2 upgrade for a PT Cruiser was just the new computer.

09-11-2004, 06:32 PM
The comment I made about being a 4 was to 02NeonON17z, not you drbyrd. :)

I am thinking you are meaning injectors when you talk about jets?
New injectors are not needed in 04 cars as they already have the higher capacity ones needed for the stage 1 kit that the 03 cars did not have.

My wife has an 2005 SRT-4, in Blast Orange. The pics that have been posted about the color are close, but they lack something. The color is is similar to one of dodges classic colors but just a little brighter and much more depth. If you have the chance go look at one in the day and at night, best time is sunset. As far as performance, Awesome. I've run a few ricers with it, most don't even come close. The few that have come close were modified. Also I've read that the difference in the earlier models is that there is a 15hp gain over the 2003. Also the Kicker stereo. I don't get to drive it much, I guess the wife knows that one day I will hit that 160 mark in it. I get to drive the 04 Ram 1500, it only has the 5.7 Hemi. :D

Welcome to Dodgetalk!

Your wife got a good year for the SRt-4....it has the LSD front differential as well as some parts for the Mopar Performance Stage I kit.(injectors I believe).

I love that color as well! Dodge used the same color in 2000 on a very small number of Dakota R/Ts.
