I have a 97 SS/T in mint condition (8000 miles) that was recently in an accident. (I cried real tears over the loss of my beautiful SS/T). Always garaged and stored. Completely stock from the manufacturer and showroom perfect on top as well as the underside. Complete with all the marking and tags on all the parts and underbody sub assemblies. Only taken out to go to truck shows until a fateful day 2 weeks ago when the accident occurred.

The insurance company claims it’s totaled and they’re only giving me $12,100 for it. The repair est. exceeds $14,000 and I know that this truck is worth more than $12,100. But I need to get documentation or corroboration to prove it.

Can you help me verify that a 97 SS/T in mint condition is worth more than $12,100.00 I don’t know what else to do except try to contact other SS/T owners and get them to help verify the true worth of the vehicle.

Can you help me find SS/T fan sites or anything you can think of to help me in my plight for monetary justice? I don’t have much time.

Sincerely,
Chris Kennard

Well, I could not find the ss/t , but kelley listed a loaded 1500 with same miles for 12,355.00 and that was just average condition.

I just checked on autotrader and the AVERAGE price for a 97 Dodge is 14,000. So yours should be at least 16,000. Even if they do say it's worth 16,000 chances are they will still total it.

There are companies out there that appraise vehicles. I have run accross them before from some other guys getting their grand nationals totalled. The insurance co. tried telling them the value of the car was 1/2 of the actual value. I know that some of these guys won. Just don't let them take the truck til you have what you want. Once they take it they get rid of it and give you what they want to.;)

Here try these

I have tried several and for some odd reason they come up less than 14,000. Even in mint condition with 8,000 miles ??

I posted this on a bunch of other sites and so far haven't gotten much but that it may be close to the actual value. I can't believe that a mint condition truck with those miles is only worth slightly more than any run of the mill truck.
Here is one response I received

"Seeing how the ss/t is only an option and not some special series, that is probably about right. sorry man, that is how the s*** falls. that is the whole point oc insurance period. you pay them thousands of $$$ and the tell you what they pay."
