Hi, can any of you help with a problem? We're out on the last week of tour and the driver side automatic window broke. After taking the door off and taking off the motor I found the problem..a completely bent up/screwed up cable. So screwed up it chewed up the plastic gear grooves each up and down cable wraps/resides in. Power window motor is good/working.
Somehow it got twisted.

I'm pretty sure I can repair myself when I get back (want to too - I'm sure the fix is pricey elsewhere)...but I neet to find the parts somehow. Im doubting much luck at the junkyards where I live unfortunately.

Any leads on these part names and links where to buy?
Need the up and down cables, and a new plastic gear (cable wraps in it - opposite the auto window motor.

Also if anyone has any knowledge, links, pics, etc. of these auto window and how it's all routed that would be great.

Thanks so much for any help - really stuck (and not rich...musician here).

You need a "window regulator" for a power window.

Will that contain the cables I need, and grooved gear they spin in ? (they look like thik bike brake cables in gauge, one is longer, one shorter).

Not sure it's the regulator, when I research that it brings up the hardware and track that holds the glass...I need the cables and spindle the cables ride/wrap upon to fix.

Good christ, what a pita. I wih I had manual windows.

The window regulator is what operates the window. The motor controls it and it does the job of raising or lowering the window based upon which way the motor is told to turn.

Yes, it will be a pain to replace. Might check the local salvage yards and the local auto parts stores to see whom has the best price.

I'm in the same situation. Anyone know of a good place to purchase a new
replacement and or part number ? Google is only giving me motors and no
regulators doh.

So again, I have to ask...other than the regulator hardware, where can I find info on the cables involved with the windows? The only parts I need are te cables themselves and the plastic spindle (which goes by what part name?..I don't know).

I can't believe there are so little resources there are for these type of parts (cable, spindle etc.). My service manual doesn't list anting auto window wise. I'll try the local junkyards but I don't think I'll have much luck there.

thanks for any help/links though guys

I don't want to try the junkyard because i'm thinking the problem may
re-occur :( this sucks :(

The only other option is the ask the dealership.

You might even ask them if they have the small parts you need instead of the whole window regulator unit.

I found a new part for only $100 (dodgepartspro.com). Should arrive tomorrow. That was $30 less than the junkyard used ones I found to order and ship.

But I think you're right, if you have the same problem as mine and the spindle in the regulator is f'd up...you'll have to make sure the unkyard replacement has a spindle in good shape, or it's gonna happen over and over.

Just a wrap up post. Received my new LH pwred window regulator, installed and bingo back in biz. I just know the power motor will go next :|

So in my case it was the spindle for sure causing the problems (the cables wrap/turn in and the casing that holds it). It was worn to the point of chewing/bending the cable as it didn't wrap nicely (up or down) with the grooves shot.
