Hey everyone I am new here and hoping to find help!!!! I have a 99 stratus, and when I go to turn on my parking lamps by clicking the switch one position, my headlights come on too. I have NO way of turning on JUST my parking lamps. And then when I click the switch the second time, the headlights just get a little brighter....On that first click I would like JUST the parking lights to come on. Does anyone know how to do this or could point me towards a website or something?? Thank you SOO much!!!!

I have a similar problem with the exception that when i hit the switch right to turn right my wipers come on and my horn so i replaced my relay and my switch and problem is still there which means is not the relay nor the switch. So i have an extra switch. I,ll sell it to you for $90.00 since they do cost $140.00 eveywhere else. I know i paid $140.00 for mine. Now im trying to find out my problem. Let me know thanks

hey,
I work in service for a dodge dealer, it sounds like your clock spring is bad, ie horn and wipers turn on with signal, they are relativly cheap but kind of a pain, steering wheel removal. dodge is having issues with caravans clocksprings. hope this helps

On Nov 6th 2002, DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler unit recalled 500,000 minivans because of a misplaced (off-center) clock spring that would cause the airbag, horn and cruise control to fail. The affected vehicles are 1996 to 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan, Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Grand Voyager, Voyager and Chrysler Town & Country. More recall information is posted after my signature.
The clockspring delivers power and signals from the non-rotating steering column to the rotating steering wheel. The blinkers, headlights, wipers and hi-beams do NOT go through the clockspring because these controls are not mounted on the steering wheel. Playing with the clockspring without disarming the SRS (airbag) is the 2nd best way to deploy the airbag (after banging the impact sensor with a hammer or another vehicle).
I have also had a similar problem with the headlight switch. The switch internally shorts out because of carbon and grease fouling. Get some spray contact cleaner from an electrician's supply and douse the switch. The contact cleaner will clean out the carbon fouling and return the switch to almost normal operation. The switch will not "feel" right as you operate it. It will feel like there is sand in it, but it will function correctly. In addition, the contact cleaner will temporarily discolor the plastic of the switch. Give it about an hour and it will return to normal appearance.
Defect Summary:
ON CERTAIN MINI VANS, THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY MAY HAVE BEEN WOUND INCORRECTLY DURING THE VEHICLE ASSEMBLY PROCESS.
Consequence Summary:
THIS CONDITION WILL MANIFEST ITSELF THROUGH ILLUMINATION OF THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP, AND COULD EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A DRIVER'S AIR BAG OPEN CIRCUIT, IF THE PART IS NOT REPLACED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME.
Corrective Summary:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY ON ALL VEHICLES WITH 70,000 MILES OR LESS. AN EXTENDED LIFETIME WARRANTY WILL ALSO BE PLACED ON THIS COMPONENT FOR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. DAIMLERCHRYSLER WILL ALSO REIMBURSE OWNERS WHO HAVE PAID TO HAVE THE CLOCKSPRING REPLACED ON THEIR VEHICLES. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING NOVEMBER 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
