...on the drivers side. DW called to say that it, "just stopped working".

Upon arriving home from work, I removed the drivers side door panel to inspect. Thus far, I can say that:

1. The lock/unlock electrical rocker switch seems ok as all other doors on the van lock and unlock properly

2. The driver's door locks and unlocks properly while using the key and all rods are free of any potential binding.

I'm guessing that the motor inside the door is dead.

Here is a picture of the upper part of the assembly:

Here is the lower part:

Here is how the two sections mate:

Is the motor the lower black piece?

Has anyone replaced one of these?

As always, many thanks in advance for any insight you may be able to provide!:help:

Yes to your first question. No to your second.

But I have worked on other electric motor door lock systems. The first thing you can try is to take it apart and clean the motor's brushes and contacts. I have repaired many a non-working door lock that way.

The motor in question is either a Mabuchi or Johnson Electric for the door lock. The motor itself is easy to swap out if you had a donor motor pulled from something like it.
