noticing my motor mounts were rather worn and actually twisted i went to install some new ones. well the only way i can get them in is if their crooked. the driverside of the engine is pushed foreward 1/2", pass side back 1/2", tranny mount seems centered from a quick glance.

no matter how much pushing, pulling, jacking, etc... i cannot get the damn engine to shift to its correct position. do i just install em crooked or is there an easy way to fix this as im at my wits end.

Ahhh, I bet your engine came out of a van then :) The vans use different motor mount brackets, look the same but the mounts will be way offset just like you say.

If you can get some truck brackets, you won't have to fight them :) you can swap the brackets in the truck easily.

since when are van mounts different? Its been a few years but I could have sworn that the 318 brackets I used when I did my /6 swap into my 79 D 100 came from a van and that motor swap went smooth as could be; does it matter which year van/which year truck?

Yeah I think some years are the same, maybe the older ones. I know the ones on the '85 van engine I put in my truck were different.
