I'm new here, and just wanted to say hi to everyone... I plan on getting the Dodge Magnum in September. That's when the baby is due. I have a lease right now on a porsche boxster, and as you can imagine, it doesn't have any back seats for a baby seat. Been looking around for a vehicle that can help me out, especially since i'm gonna owe money once i turn in my lease. The magnum seems to be the perfect car. Good for a family, good for my budget, good for carrying all the crap that my wife needs me to get for the baby, and of course good for having some fun on the street...
well, I'll be chatting with you all more often as the due date approaches...(due date on the car.... to hell with the baby... the baby is just an excuse to get the magnum....LOL)
take care

Good choice on the car! You won't need a "good luck" for the car, just the kid! Seriously though, kids are great and if you've got to have a family car, the Magnum's it! I'm not sure, but I believe that I read somewhere that the Magnum R/T is actually quicker than the Boxster.... could be wrong, I don't know! Anyway, you'll have lots of company in the Miami area. There are several posters on this board from the Miami area (Reddrum comes to mind) and all seem to be pretty okay folks. Then again, anyone with the good taste to appreciate the Magnum can't be all bad....
Good luck with the kid and the pending car....

I wouldn't be surprised if the magnum is faster in acceleration than the boxster. The best thing that the boxster has going for it is how it corners. I'm not expecting the same cornering ability from the magnum, but I am expecting similar, straight-line performance, if not better.
My friends boss had recently gotten the sxt, and he was impressed with its performance. Then again, his former vehicle was an SUV. I have yet to test drive any of the Magnum models, but come august/september, i'll certainly have a more better opinion of this car's handling and performance.
By the way, me in the boxster, and my wife in a mini cooper S... guess who wins in traffic.... errrrr.... well at least i have top speed. I can only beat her when I have clear roads...
I'm gonna miss those racing days once the kids are in the picture... but it'll be well worth it... (i gotta say that... my wife is right behind me....)

A boxster and a mini cooper? You two are a couple after my own heart! Don't ever let anyone tell you that once you have kids you can't have fun. I won't say the Magnum will take a corner nearly as well as a boxster or a mini cooper but it corners better than my Saturn (never surrender to mediocrity) and it certainly handles better than my truck (every man need a truck). As I see it, the only drawback you'll face with the Magnum is that only two car seats will fit in the back. Better hope she's not expecting triplets!!! Good Luck!

Whaaaat?! I'm not gonna be the only one in Miami with a Magnum!! @#*&#^@&&$*!!
Hehehe jus' kidding. Welcome to the board WumpscuT.
I'm going for another test drive on premier night june 17th. There's suppose to be some NASCAR drivers there to talk about the Magnum's performance.
I saw my first Magnum on the road yesterday. It was a red R/T and it looked like it was racing a Crossfire but I'm not sure. I almost ran into a royal palm tree while trying to get a better look. If they were racing then the Magnum was winning.

Dave,
I'm a bit let down that only two car seats will fit the magnum... are you referring to the latch system? If so, then as long as the center has a seat belt, I can still harness a baby seat back there... I think... some of them baby seats are pretty wide...
I definately plan on having fun even after the kids... I'm still hitting the clubs (the Kitchen club - a goth/punk club). I actually think i'll have more fun once they're around cause now i'll have an excuse to play with lego blocks again....
Reddrum,
bwahahaha.... there shall be another magnum driver in miami.... bwahahaa....
I used to have a dodge avenger with a tag up front that read REDRUM... its a cool word... and it comes from an amazing movie...
I'm gonna get the Magnum, and i'm gonna pimp it in hialeah.... .....errr.... that's funny...

bird road by the Denny's??? i used to go there all the time... and yeah, i got beat once when i had my F-150 by a dodge diesel dually.... he even had the kids in the back seat watching tv.... how embarassing... especially since all my friends saw it and were pointing the finger at me laughing....
errrr...
lesson learned.... never race against something that'll be terribly embarrasing if you lose.
